Re: can inverter be left 'on' ?

Using a battery isolation switch, as proposed by dandywarhol is the superior method.
Locate it at the battery positive terminal so when it is off the cable, heavy duty , is isolated. A more expensive alternative to the battery isolation switch may by a suitably sizes circuit breaker, about 50A, with ...

Re: DIESEL PUMP SEALS LEAKING!!

Thats a good link TGP :) These old pumps are capable of producing pressures of over 150 BAR (the average car tyre pressure is 2 BAR!) Modern diesel HDI etc. are producing nearly 2,000 BAR  purely by better tooling creating ultra tight clearance tolerances - thats why they don't like heavy ...

Re: DIESEL PUMP SEALS LEAKING!!

hi there,
after smelling diesel coming from my engine i decided to have a good look for the fault. i have traced it to a couple of failed o rings on the diesel pump. one i could get to and replace but the other is more difficult and havnt yet sorted. i decided to have a look on the net to see if ...

Re: Topping up with coolant/anti-freeze

My Resevoir tank is just below "low" on a cold engine.
Can i top up with coolant/antifreeze to the full level rather than a complete change and what is the best coolant to use :?:

There is no obvious leak just evaporation of water i hope.

Re: bleeding bongos

I personally wouldn't try using a valve in the bleed pipe.....How would you know when the job is done.???.(and coolant would also escape)..nice to see those bubbles in the funnel and know that when they have stopped the job is done......
Sounds as though you have done it now and in future you will ...

Re: Failed MOT

Re seals, VO & BD will break down natural rubber seals. you must make sure they are VITON for use with Oil for long livery. Modern seals are made from Viton but you need to be sure.
Same applies to fuel lines natural rubber will break down so need to keep a watch on them. They will weep first, then ...

Re: Fitting 110aH Leisure Battery - tight squeeze?

My Numax 110ah is a deep cycle leisure/starting battery, rather than a dedicated LB, haven't looked into the technical comparisons, but it's good enough for me with a decent gaurantee :D
Sounds like a Marine battery, actually "hybrid" Kirsty.
Best advice, again, is at the '12v side of life'. http ...

Re: how long battery life?

Very worthy info, but if I were to make it sticky, then I'd have to make every informative post in Techie sticky, which would result in pages of stickiness, which would then defeat the point IMO. This is where the factsheets come in, then we can refer people to them :D

OK kirsty, so can we make ...

Re: how long battery life?

As I posted on a previous topic, read through this link parts 1 & 2.
It has every thing you need to know. It is American so the mains voltage is 110v but that is irrelevant as loads are the same being measured in watts, amps X volts.
Note : you will see you should never run any type of lead acid ...
