Thanks for all the replies. The reason I asked prior to fittting my alloys the mechanic had to use a 2"dia piece of scaffold end on to smash one of my steel wheels off saying it was quite normal. So what Im going to do before I put my alloys back on after putting them in hibernation for the win...

Is it ok to use copper slip (or other grease) on wheel nuts, more specifically chrome nuts on alloys. Also is it ok to copper slip on the wheel faces to stop them sticking to the hubs.

I dont think the Festiniog/West Highlands Railways http://www.festrail.co.uk is running until the end of March which is a pity but it has one advantage we can walk to and from the pub without worrying that trains will squash us.
