Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

Hi, yes you are correct. We have opened H270 relay and tested it. It tested correctly but we also bought another one as it was fairly cheap in case there was some issue with the pins perhaps not making good contact. No luck there, still not working with either relay in place. I was confused with you...

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

Hi Geoff, thanks. When you mention 'the relay' in your reply, is there any way you can identify which relay you are referring to? And is there more than one of them? I think I am going to have to send it to an auto electrician but don't want to give up yet if there is a relay I can check / clean / r...

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

So, I got it to start but it is still not fixed. The starter motor was rebuilt last week so I was reasonably hopeful that the fault is not there. I attached a wire to the solenoid tab on the starter and attached the other end to the positive of a small motorbike battery. Nothing happened. Then it co...

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

I was wondering if there was a way I could kind of 'jump start' the starter motor? So if I make up a new wire and attach it to the little tab on the solenoid and spark it with 12V do you think that should operate the starter if the ignition is on? I am hoping so. It is driving me crazy. We replaced ...

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

Hi Geoff Thanks for your help. We have opened the H270 relay and tested it by applying 12V to the coil and testing continuity over the other 2 terminals. The contacts open and close correctly as far as we can see and there is continuity when power is applied. We have checked what we think is the sta...

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

Unfortunately it is not fixed. I had the starter reconditioned and it still does not turn over at all. The only difference from before is that now there is a clicking noise when I turn the key to start. I have traced that noise to a H270 relay located on the wall to the left of the starter battery a...

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

AA man couldn't get it going but he suspects starter motor. Does anyone know by any chance whether it's best to attack the starter from below or above?

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

I think the coolant alarm does go off when you turn the key to start position. Then when the key returns from the start position the coolant alarm sounds it's test buzzer as I guess it now has power again. I am at work so cannot 100% confirm but think that is correct

Re: V6 Engine won't turn over

Hi Geoff

No click that I can hear. Nothing has changed that I can think of, we've had the van for 14 years as well so I am well used to it's 'eccentricities'. AA coming this afternoon so hoping to get a diagnosis from them.

V6 Engine won't turn over

Hi, I wonder if anyone has any ideas? Our V6 won't start. Have checked battery voltage, 12.4 or so. Gear definitely in park. All the electrics come on as they should but when you turn the key to the start position there is just silence, no turn over at all. It appears that something is happening tho...

Re: Overnight parking within 20 miles of Calais

Not sure if you can do it still but we have slept inside the fence in the terminal car park before. It was pretty secure with police patrolling around and had a good night, the only minor irritation being the floodlights.

Sorry, just seen you are going on the tunnel - I was referencing the ferry....

Re: Any decent leisure batteries out there?

Hello Many thanks for all of your replies and suggestions. As is often the case, this was not as simple as it appeared and my 'dead' leisure battery turned out to in fact be a poor earth connection...sadly this did not manifest itself in my simple brain before I had bought a new battery. I am howeve...

Any decent leisure batteries out there?

Hello We are just about to purchase our fourth leisure battery over our Bongo lifetime. I am consistently disappointed by their performance (once they are no longer new) and relatively short service life. We had a Bosch one to start (that has been the best of the bunch) and then a succession of ones...
