Re: Short in alternator loom, 100A fuse blows

Normally its the diode block in the alternator that is damaged and then shorts out the feed to the 100 Amp fuse. Normally quite a quick fix if you have a suitable alternator/starter repair shop local to you, mine was just 24 hours can't remember the cost but a lot cheaper than a replacement alternat...

Re: Tightening air con belt on2.0 litre petrol engine

Yes what is the question ? As a crude adjustment its normal to tension it so that by fingers alone you can twist the belt 1/4 of a turn i.e. 90 degrees.

Re: AFT skylight leak - failed repair

Ah good to hear, yes they do make quite a bit of cleaning and getting a good adhesion to the glass in the manual. Not had this problem myself yet, but I'm sure with time it will come!

Re: V6 no start

Do you have a Flashing Hold light as this indicates if you have an ECU error recorded, if its not flashing then unlikely to have an ECU error details of error codes and how to read them is shown here http://www.philmcfadden.co.uk/MazdaDiagnosticBox.htm

Re: AFT skylight leak - failed repair

How strange, are you able to work out where it's leaking? Maybe some food colouring dye and a watering can?
Could you have a crack in the plastic surround perhaps?
There are instructions in the Service Manual on removing but it sounds like you have already done that.

Re: AFT skylight leak - failed repair

Welcome aboard! Mumm, are you sure its leaking and not simply condensation ? Might be worth checking after before rain is due, and then after to see if its rain water, or maybe in the morning after its cooled down overnight and condensation has settled on the glass and then when you drive it runs to...

Presumably a diesel ? Did it get very hot ? Head gaskets don't normally fail but cracked heads is a common result.

Re: sliding door electrical issues

In the "B" pillar is a yellow control module, this contains a dual relay (sealed type) and relevant circuit, diagrams available in the online diagrams if you use a browser capable of Flash; low quality screen grabs below;

Re: alternative to NDC roof rack/rails?

Haven't seen any advertised in ages, I think quite a few people make up there own with custom brackets to fit the mountings in the AFT roof.

Re: sliding door electrical issues

When I say inactive they both go to earth, so you can check for that, then one relay will pulse to provide power in the correct direction to open/close the lock.

If the electrical diagrams would help they are available but you need a Browser still capable of using Flash (UCBrowser & older versions see viewtopic.php?p=723668#p723668 ) http://www.g8dhe.net/bwm/bwmanualp.htm?1997/Page_110

Re: sliding door electrical issues

I wouldn't unscrew them from the pillar/door it will just make alignment even more difficult. I've done it by measuring the voltages inside the door with the panel off. The other thing is give all the contacts a good clean with electrical cleaning fluid and a kitchen scouring pad (not metallic they ...

Re: sliding door electrical issues

Have you been able to check circuit continuity between the "B" pillar contacts and the door contacts when the door is closed ? I've heard of a couple of doors where the hanging of the door had been "adjusted" incorrectly which meant that the contacts didn't meet correctly height ...
