Re: Last year of the diesel 4WD
This is probably one of the very last. There aren't many about like this. I have the same spec on a 2001 model with the aero roof with glass. Took a while to find.

Re: Glowlplug light flashing
Hi Chris It would be worth getting a multimeter. They are quite cheap. I say this because the contacts on the solenoids get covered in crud and even though you have used a battery to listen for the solenoid click you may not be making a complete circuit due to the crud on the other solenoid. Give th...

Re: Glowlplug light flashing
Hi Colin I have a 2001 2.5 turbo diesel which had the same problem and I cured it with the following method. Firstly check all the vacuum hoses under the passenger and drivers seat. Make sure they are all a tight fit. It is sometimes possible to cut the offending pipe by removing about 8mm but you c...

Re: Flashing glow plug and loss of power
Hi Anton
I will. I tried to get the codes but the wire I was using was too thick to insert into the diagnostic port!!
Sourcing thin wire so will be back very soon.

Re: Flashing glow plug and loss of power
Firstly thank you to Anton for his recent input regarding the issue of flashing glow plug light and loss of power. I have suffered this problem for quite a while and inputted earlier my findings but unfortunately the problem came back. Anton gave us resistance figures for the solenoids and this insp...

Re: Trouble codes P0400, P1228, P1402
Hi Anton Thank you for posting this information as I know there are some of us suffering the same problem. I have 2001 2.5 turbo diesel and have suffered the flashing glow plug and loss of power exactly as you have described. It is all very frustrating. I haven't checked anything electrical yet but ...

Re: Central Locking
The clicking suggests the electrics are working fine.
Its normally the servo inside the drivers door which packs up. Its just a solenoid and after time they simply loose their effectiveness. About 3 or 4 pounds on ebay.

Re: Effect of soot build up in oil ? (Diesel)
I've been reading this article with great interest as I believe I have first hand experience of a failed engine due to an excessive build up of soot in the lubricating oil. Not on a Bongo but my wife Jill's Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1600 HDI 2010 model. Prior to it's big ends going the engine had ...

Re: Flashing glow plug and loss of power
Hi Vanessa You're not hijacking my thread. Sorry to hear of your woes and to be honest I still suffer the occasional loss of power although its not as bad as it was. I have found now that carrying a pair of long nose plier's comes in handy. What I have found is that if I lift the passenger seat I ca...

Re: How to fit a kayak or canoe on bongo
I've just been on ebay and put in 'roof rack gutter fitting' which came up with a set with high brackets which should clear your roof. Also the Land Rover bars look as though they would give sufficient clearance. There's a set called Rhino 2 for a Land Rover. Best check with the suppliers first to s...

Re: How to fit a kayak or canoe on bongo
Hi Sven You say you are advised not to fit a rack to your roof. Your best bet is to source a roof rack which fits to the guttering. Obvious drawback though is you'll have to remove it to raise the roof. But at least you'll be avoid putting it inside.

Re: Corroded core plug led to overheating
Hi Ian . This is a really easy job. Takes a couple of minutes to remove the core plug and pop a new one in. Obviously if the core plug leaks then the coolant system will drain to the level of the core plug. The whole system doesn't have to be drained. Due to the location of the core plugs this means...

Re: Flashing glow plug and loss of power
Yes I use Archoil diesel additive every now and then to clean the turbo and other internal bits. I think it is worth doing having had a Citroen Relay EGR failure. The amount of carbon build up was beyond belief. The amount of black smoke coming out was embarrassing. Got sorted obviously but I reckon...
