Re: Rear axle - heavy 'thump'?
Ok - The advice on here was exactly right - both bumpstops are missing - that would explain it.....
So - where to source replacements - I have seen genuine new mazda parts advertised so far - at 40 pounds each - are there any alternatives (cheaper alternatives.....) out there?
Cheers,

Re: Rear axle - heavy 'thump'?
Great - thanks for the pointers - I'll get under the van tonight and have a squint - be a nice 'simple' fix if it is the bump-stops are missing/sheared.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Rear axle - heavy 'thump'?
Hi,
When the rear axle goes into compression - especially if the van is loaded up - we sometimes get a real heavy 'bang/thump' from somewhere under the middle/rear - sounds really terrible when it happens, its not a light knock - its a proper 'bang'.
Trouble is I can't trace it to save my ...

None yet - we are away in the Van over the bank holiday though - I'll try to remember to get a couple then and post them here.

Re: Thule 863 aero bars and 750 foot pack - do they fit?
Right then - update - Success! :)
The bars fit very securely and with no mods at all (Thule 863 bars, 753 foot, 3021 fitting pack) - and they look great too.
However three small points to note if you want to copy what we did.
1) The channel/groove that runs the length of the freetop on each side ...

Re: Thule 863 aero bars and 750 foot pack - do they fit?
Weeeellll,
The plot is thickening. Congealing maybe.
Did some research and noticed that the Transit Connect shares its Thule fitment recommendation with the Bongo (for 761 square bars + 960 feet + 2126 fitting kit).
However, The Transit Connect also lists the 861 aero bars (120cm), 753 feet and ...

Re: Thule 863 aero bars and 750 foot pack - do they fit?
Yep - you think Thule would have thought about the ferry problem wouldn't you? 8)
Joking aside though - the foot pack goes into the four holes on top of the freetop so there is no clearance issue - but I don't know if the 750 foot actually is compatible with the four mounting points in the way the ...

Thule 863 aero bars and 750 foot pack - do they fit?
Finally getting round to putting roof mounted bars on our freetop and although I know you can use the (square section) Thule 761 bars with a 960 foot pack and 2126 fitting kit we would really like to fit the newer Thule 863 aero bars. Thule say they should be fitted with the corresponding 750 foot ...

Distance (width) between threaded holes in free top roof?
Hi
Our own Van is not around today (parked on a drive 15 miles away - don't ask) and I wondered if anybody out there knew the answer to this question - What is the width across the roof between the threaded holes? I have an Smax roof bar set and it fixes with M8 bolts through 'flat' rubber feet - I ...

Hmmm - not so good news now - don't know how we missed it at first but there is evidence of oil build up/drips off of a rubber pipe section that runs from a stub pipe in the the transmission sump out to the right hand side of the van and then vanishes forwards somewhere. This rubber pipe section is ...

Oil consumption?
Hi - we have been running our 2WD Freda for a while now and its been a brilliant bit of kit for our surfing and windsurfing trips. Its run without fault throughout. We changed the oil ourselves in September and have noticed that it has used about half a litre of GTD magnatec in covering around 4000 ...
