Re: Squiffy Roof!

I think this porthole only works for air (and beer) going upwards when opening, there is another vent at the small end of the wedge of cheese which exhausts air when closing.

Re: Squiffy Roof!

The motors are at the rear of the top cover. It looks as though the roof is unopened so they cannot be accessed without activating the motors .

This can be addressed by connecting to bongo wiring looms . Otherwise best to open the roof by direct electrical means by such as connecting 12v to the ...

Re: Squiffy Rooof !

I used quick setting Araldite three years ago and still ok. Problem I think is due to shrinkage of plastic inserts with age. :D

Re: Manually lowering the roof

Many thanks, that's clear now, its the three Allen screws around the worm gearbox. Obviously would have to be done for each motor. Once the worm gear is removed, the teleflex cables are free, and the sliding mechanisms can be pulled forward to lower the roof.

When I had my recent problem (in ...

Re: Manually lowering the roof

Are these the three screws that hold each drive motor plate in place? (See topic "squiffy roof" for photos).

Re: coolant flow - (follow up to cooling diagram)

I posted in April about the control principles for the Bongo cooling system, and there was a query what did I mean by re-circ flow. Been off the forum for some time so have not been able to reply. However, have got back to find a good animation which helps in understand the dynamic nature of the ...

Roof lifting Failure
The failure described above has also happened to me. Whilst lowering the roof, one side lowered but not the other, and a loud crack as roof edge split on one side. No-one about to spot this, and we always lower with the hatch closed. One side drive mechanism had driven as far ...

Re: coolant flow - (follow up to cooling diagram)

The reason for holes on stats is usually:

1. To allow trapped air to circulate out of the system when filling.
2. To prevent a stagnant area of coolant between the engine's heat generating surfaces and the thermostat's wax capsule. A stagnant area would slow down the response of the thermostat and ...

Re: Cooling system

I wouldn't contemplate changing the system; such as with a second bleed pipe.

It's quite easy to run to the engine up to operating temperature, especially in this hot weather. In 32 deg C the other week I had the thermostat opening in about ten minutes just running on tick over. The accounts of ...

Waxoyl characteristics

I have waxoyled other vehicles and had my bongo waxoyled by a body shop.
When I have applied it myself it has taken some time to harden, and it could be smeared off with a finger for a few days.
For the bongo the body shop put it in their paint oven and after a few hours quite a hard coat had ...

To conclude. The sediment light never came on again, but the fuel filter has been changed anyway.

I see from other threads that the switch housing on the bottom of the filter also acts as a drain. Unscrewing the switch part way apparently allows you to dump the water/sediment from the bottom of the ...
