Re: Another MOT passed and hello to old friends
Good to hear from you Mike, like you I don’t spend so much time on BF as I used to but I do keep nipping in/out. I remember way back when you were the first Guinea Pig to fit one of our newly developed Low Coolant alarms. Daughter Jo is now running the shop and doing plenty of business with all sort...

Re: Coolant for a 2002 2.5 V6 Petrol
If the coolant alarm fitted to your bongo is one of ours, if you refill with red OAT antifreeze it may give you false alarms for a while as red coolant coats the inside of the engine (when new) and so coats the alarm screw in the header tank. If the coolant is blue I would suggest staying with blue…...

Re: Bongo V6 Sluggish acceleration
Had this same problem….eventually turned out to be the plug leads where they cover the plugs shorting out to the cylinder head…it gets a bit oily/dirty n there….examiners very carefully for tracking marks…… don’t get cheap replacements.

The rocker cover gasket could well not be required…..oil around the drivers side front of engine is normally caused by the egr……it’s there on most diesels.

Re: Diesel or Petrol
Yes, old rubber/metal coolant pipes……if you fit a low coolant alarm it will almost certainly warn you before the Bongo boils over and probably cracks the cylinder head…our alarm was developed with the help of this forum…..many thousands fitted and many reports of overheating prevented.

Re: Diesel or Petrol
Best of all for economy would be 2.5 V6 petrol with a gas conversion…..I’ve had 2 of them and a 2.5 diesel ….however you have to consider the cost of the lpg conversion……..the v6 is fast powerful smooth and quiet. The diesel is very powerful but older and noisy not so smooth. IMHO the 2 litre is und...

Re: Overheating - Loss of Coolant - 98 Auto Diesel
When the alarm first went off and you filled the tank……was the tank empty before you added coolant…..if so…there lies the problem.
You cannot add coolant to a empty tank without trapping air….the system must be bled at this point.
Fingers crossed for you….and your cylinder head.

Re: Bongo roof help
As for the roof needing a bit of help to fully open. When you close the roof make sure you unzip the sides. Doing this will reduce the effort put on the motors.

Sounds pretty normal for a 2ltr….they do run cool…..you can blank off a section of the rad if you want things a bit warmer.
