Re: Wanted bongo, i want to buy

Thank "thelongroad" not sure i like that, i had a brakedown truck once that use to do that to me on long uphills, thinking 2.5d going to look at one this friday, bit far away though but looks like a good one. Fingers crossed If you can source a suitably rust free/welded early diesel (up to about 19...

Re: Wanted bongo, i want to buy

Hi. After lots more reading and talking to my wife, we think you[mikeonb4c] make the best argument, We are now looking for an 8 seater 2.0L. poss 2.5D. and make a removable unit, i should be able to weld something onto the bottom so it slots into the seat runners, making it secure and removable Tha...

Re: Coolant leak right side (from front)

Thanks Mike. I spotted we had our cambelt kit done 3 years ago and the fule filter is not very old so we are no where near close to service interval for that so that saving will go towards the 2 large bore metal pipes that make sense to replace, they sound like a ticking time bomb to me. They are s...

Fingers crossed for you bb123 - I've been through similar moments with mine but 13 years later we're still together for all the reasons you mention. ;-)

Re: Fitting bleed elbow to new head

Hi, struggling with fitting the Bongo bleed elbow to my replacement cylinder head. Tried freezing it but no luck. Thought about freezing the elbow and warming the head up in the oven (when good lady at work). Any advice before trying this method? Many thanks. There's lots of old threads on this so ...

Re: Wanted bongo, i want to buy

Is it so that the 2.0L is the most reliable, it will be my wifes daily with 2 young kids, we wanted v6 but were told £1000+ for cam, pump and seals but only about £250 for the 2.0L and diesel. v6 alternator £270 new, hard to find a recon and £40 for diesel and 2.0L recon alt, easy to get and so on....

Re: Issues since being laid-up

Thats a long layup! What year is the Bongo? Diesel I presume? I think you should start by changing all filters, oil etc. then reassess. If it starts and runs better once engine warm then suspect gloplugs. Worth trying injector cleaner also i guess. ABS stuff is probably corroded/seized - maybe you c...

Re: 1996 2.5td 4x4 - Restoration Project

Thanks for confirming images working, they were being redirected by my browser  Also thanks for the positive words from everyone, I must admit that it has been an awful past 18 months and wouldn't wish what I have been through on anyone apart from the tw@t's who sold us this van, they can... ...

Re: Coolant leak right side (from front)

This is why I have the threshold so low. I think the fiddly nature of the low coolant alarm (drilling holes in expansion tank) puts some including myself off a bit. I cannot quite get my head round why there is fluid in battery tray yet no where else to be seen on the header tank itself/pipes to/fr...

Re: Happy 21st, Bongy!

Felicitations to Bongo on this landmark occasion. He's already had a colourful youth - I wonder what adulthood will bring  q  P.S. Except that indifferent health today is putting a question mark over it, i'm planning to head to Stourport later and come back Thursday evening. If i get the...

Re: Heater air intake lever

On our new Bongo, there is a lever on the air intake system under the bonnet which feeds the heater fan. Does anyone know what this lever does? It seems to have 2 positions, which I assume is designed to divert air somewhere. Any ideas? :?: Cheers Think i saw a pic recently on Facebook of a Bongo t...
