The end or an era

Hi Folks, as per the title it's the end of an era, after 10 years of ownership I have finally acted on the need for a bigger van and have bought a LWB to house all my extra stuff that I seem to need to take away with me ! I've spent hours on these forums (not so much recently), I've taken ideas (lik...

Re: Starter motor ? No power wont start

Thanks Guys, I haven't been able to sort it so will need to find an auto electrician. In the meantime I've fitted a pushbutton to the dash which shorts out the wires I was talking about which seems to work without any issues. Obviously not ideal as it means the started can be invoked at any time wit...

Re: help needed fitting roofbars please

depending on what you want to carry you can just use the ring bolts in the holes without roofbars to secure straps etc. I use something similar (L shaped brackets) all the time for surfboards and the like. After leving a home made roofrack up there for a long time my suggestion is to grease your bol...

Re: rx8 wheels,do they really fit?

I had an RX8 for a while, I can tell you they fit but the imo were uncomfortable to use, I've got 17's now. They do look good though but as it was a company car they only stayed on for a day !

Re: Starter motor ? No power wont start

Thanks for the quick response guys, fuse is ok, will check the relay tomorrow. With regard to the solenoid, that's the thing that I am bypassing with the RAC mans bodge ? If so it looks likely but I'm still a bit unconvinced. Is there any way to check for sure ? Finally is there any reason why I can...

Re: middle swivel seats - north star conversions

It's a good idea bit HOW MUCH  I did the seat slider change (so you can move the seats whichever way the seat is facing) and then it's just a case or undoing 4 bolts, 'swiveling the seat' (ok lifting it and turning it around but it's doable, I just stand astride it and lift it from the centre...

Starter motor ? No power wont start

Hi All, not been on here for a while, good to see a few familiar names still around. Just been on hols with the Bongo and it seems to have developed a fault which while I can find mention of using the search, I cant see a definitive fix. All was well until I parked up for 20 minutes, returned and wh...

Re: Re-reversing the middle seats

So you have 2 bench seats facing each other and both sets slide? The only 2 options are you have either modified seat runners or, the front bench (that is reversed) is sitting on reversed sliders as well. If modified (look for nuts not rivets) then it's a 5 minute job to turn them back round to the ...

Re: Cruise control fitting - urgent help please!

I use ADS for my Bongo servicing and although they have always delivered on what they have promised, I get the impression they are not auto electricians. Very interested to know how you get on as I want Cruise control but the insurance thing has always put me off.
Hope it all goes OK.

Re: Tow Bar that cant take the strain!

Sorry to hear your problem, did you havestraps fitted to the top of the tailgate? Both my racks and my backrak say it's a must to avoid the load 'bouncing'. They don't actually take the weight but act as a stabilising force keeping horizontal movement to a minimum. Says to use all the time but defin...

Re: Halfords Advanced cycle carrier - is it safe ???

I've dug out a picture of my old rack fitted to my Bongo, as you can see the 'straps' are actually metal so once it's all tight the thing is rock solid. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m216/griffin29/rack.jpg It was used extensively and rather neglected having been left by the side of the shed (a...

Re: Halfords Advanced cycle carrier - is it safe ???

Hi, not 100% sure but this sounds like my old rack that I originally bought for a seat Alhambra. Do you have metal straps that all tighten up using a kind of lever a bit like a bike quick release ? If so, I used it on aforementioned seat and with some minor adjustment on the bongo loads of times wit...

DVLA want confirmation of engine size - How ?

Bit of a weird one this, I've received a letter from the DVLA asking that I confirm the cylinder capacity and registration of my Bongo. It says 'Do not take the information from your registration document' for reasons which I understand but the question is where do I get the information (for sure? )...

Re: re Roof Bed Board fitting ?

I made simple bed boards, did it a little different to some of the others. I wanted to retain the use of the sunroof for light and keep the original floor in place so made the boards from 3 separate bits. When storing this allows the larger board to sit above the front seats and the 2 smaller boards...
