Re: Mystery object

Thanks Ian. Looks like it's not off the Bongo anyway.

I will need the exact model and serial number before I can allocate prize money..... :)

Mystery object

While searching for something that had dropped down into the nether regions behind the driver's seat I found this bracket wedged under the kitchen unit. Anyone recognise it and know where it might belong? Of course it might not be off the Bongo. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1781/43080841942_6d7c11...

Re: Headlight refurbishment steps DO NOT DELETE

I think I've still got the drawings and photos somewhere. They were hosted on my ntlworld webspace but Virgin pulled the plug when they took over. I'll see if I can dig them out and find somewhere to host them. I try to avoid my current webspace for message board links as I'm usually near my bandwi...

Re: Headlight refurbishment steps DO NOT DELETE

I've just done mine with the Autoglym kit. Almost identical to the 3M kit and identical results. £24.99 from Halfords but you can get it a bit cheaper on ebay. Yes, a bit daunting at first but very satisfying when you see the results..! Edit - bloody Photobucket, I'd forgotten I had my avatar on the...

Re: Breakdown insurance for Ireland.

A quick update - gone with the AA. Slightly more expensive than what my current insurers quoted but I don't have the hassle of having to supply service history.

Re: Breakdown insurance for Ireland.

Thanks roosmith. Yes, I think I should have done more research - I certainly will when it comes up for renewal (not until December unfortunately).

Breakdown insurance for Ireland.

My breakdown insurance covers me for Northern Ireland but not for the Republic, I have to take European cover. They don't normally cover vehicles over 15 years old but said they will consider it if I can send them 5 years service history and at a cost of £167 for three weeks. I can do the history th...

Re: Droning noise

Update 2 -

All fixed. New wheel bearing fitted but also the hub was damaged as it had overheated (oops..!), so if you suspect a wheel bearing problem best to get it looked at as soon as possible. Fortunately Adrian had a 2nd-hand one in stock.

Nice and quiet now.... :D :D

Re: Droning noise

Update - Had it checked by the local garage in Caithness, and he said it was the wheel bearing (front offside) but the Bongo wasn't on his supplier's list and he wasn't at all convinced they would send the correct part. However, he said that it wasn't serious yet and should be okay to drive home so ...

Re: Droning noise

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll check them out then if I don't find anything obvious I'll give Adrian a ring for advice.

Happy New Year to all..!

Droning noise

Hi all I've developed a droning noise from the front offside (I think). It increases in volume around 35 mph, then decreases when I speed up but increases again around 55-60. Also noticeably louder when going round a left-hand bend. I suspect a wheel bearing but I've been told it could be a CV joint...

Re: Newcastle - Bergen, possible new ferry in 2016 (was 2013

Another year gone by and still no ferry - however, there is now a strong possibility that it might be happening next year, albeit from Harwich. Re: Bongo adventure

I spent a month touring the Western Isles in June to early July last year. Only three days when the weather kept me in the Bongo (I was glad of the rest.. :) ) and only one evening when there were any midges about - and they were wimps compared to their sisters on the mainland. Loads of photos on my...
