I had a similar problem with the rev counter working intermittently and speedo being erratic then they both stopped working, I ordered a ne sensor from aliexpress about £12 , takes 5 minutes to swap and had no problems since

Hi, my rev counter on my 1999 2.5td has started being erratic or not working at all, having read through some posts it seems the most likely problem is a ne sensor or pulse generator, I have looked at the schematics but they don't help me a lot
Should I be able to get to it from under the drivers ...

Well it might be worth while using a meter to check that you are getting a signal from the sensor in the tank to the back of the meter.
As I recall some of the meters have a fine wire from the screw connection to the movement itself which can be snapped if the screws on the rear cause the ...

Sorry it's a diesel, the previous gauge worked fine until I foolishly tried removing the needles hence the need to replace

Fuel and temp gauge
Hi, I've replaced the combination meter, (fuel and temp gauge) the temp gauge is working fine but the fuel needle just slowly dropped to empty and stayed there , I've filled the tank to full
Is there something else I have to do ?

The wires are bound together in "looms" (you don't want to touch them there)! However they breakout of the looms at various connectors around the vehicle, in the case of the indicators they come out to a plug under the dashboard on the passenger side footwell before going into the flasher module ...
