Re: 2.5 DT: Lazy Temperature Gauge and Topping Up Coolant

I'll drive two miles from starting the engine before my gauge moves over Winter and Spring, Summer is around half that distance, 2.5 diesel, I also try to drive gently till the motor hits the 11 oclock mark to reduce wear and tear. H

Re: Petition for UK to rejoin European Pet Passport Scheme

I used to sign quite a few govt petitions and regardless how many millions sign up they're all looked at by a committee and in at least a dozen years nothing constructive comes from them, besides our traitors in the commons are busy doing just this and I suspect if they could they'd sign us up for ...

Re: Bongo’s in new ULEZ zone Central London

Having had a diesel guzzler previously in the hilux surf I knew that on a run anything above 60 mph would gulp down the fuel, now that was a 3L. Like I said I wasn't expecting really decent fuel consumption out of a 2.5 with my own heavily constructed rear conversion in it and couldn't give precise ...

Re: Bongo’s in new ULEZ zone Central London

I couldn't give you the MPG figures but from my door to Heathrow is 269miles, the Luton turn is 37 miles so I reckon the van did 320 miles to where I put the final 20 quid in and that was less than half a tank, to be fair I plodded back keeping the revs in top at 2100, to say I am impressed is an ...

Re: Bongo’s in new ULEZ zone Central London

I just had the pleasure of handing over £25 to the ULEZ nazis as I took my son to Heathrow to emigrate from this shithole country, funny how you can be charged for emissions at an airport where jets are taking off and landing every minute. I had to pay for 2 days as we arrived at the Heathrow ...

Re: V6 stalling in traffic

I was having some trouble with the engine revs surging and suspected the TPS was causing the problem so removed it cleaned the electrical connector up, checked the rotor part for sticking/smoothness and put it back together but while doing that I noticed a vacuum pipe had been pushed on its fitting ...

Re: Front wheel hub

If you haven't got an impact gun I'd see if you can borrow one, I managed to break a large torque wrench trying to undo those 21mm nuts at the bottom of the suspension strut as they seemed to be welded into place, other than that the rest of taking it apart was OK.

Re: Keeping warm without a diesel heater

I tend to crack a couple of windows when I'm away too regardless how cold it is outside and like I said the two duvet sleeping arrangement has me comfortable throughout the night, I sleep in shorts/t shirt.

Re: lamda sensor

My mates Guzzi (850 le mans) in the mid 80's pinked like fk on unleaded fuel so I'm not surprised to hear it runs crap on this wood alcohol garbage they sell us as 'petrol' these days, like you my 4 cylinder 20 year old kwack runs like a train on it and it doesn't appear to have affected carb seals ...

Re: Keeping warm without a diesel heater

The majority of times I've been away in the van has been during Winter as the son goes to surfing spots in it during the summer, we have a blower heater for when we're on Electric hook up but haven't used it as I just park up wherever I feel like doing so, I use two duvets, one underneath and one ...

Re: V6 lost power and cut out under acceleration

My LB completely discharged when the inline fuse rattled itself loose and I hadn't noticed as we'd only been doing short runs to town etc, its over three years in there since before I got the van and it charged straight back up on an overnight charge so I'd not be worrying too much about a new one.

Re: Rotten Gearbox oil cooler pipes - HELP!!

I had the same thing happen with another diesel I had, I went to a scrapyard and sourced another oil cooler and connected the rubber pipes to that and fashioned a bracket which I fitted beneath the original, worked fine till I sold the vehicle on.

Basically they're just a small radiator, the ...

Re: ABS sensor failure ?

All these ABS sensors are pretty much the same and though I've had no trouble with the Bongo ones I had to change them on the daughters mini which was recommended by a mini specialist mechanic when I changed the discs on that car. They're affected by all kinds, wet, dirt, stones bouncing up off the ...
