Re: Coolant and overheating strangeness

Hi Folks, I had a coolant leak a wee while ago, it was down to a issue with one of the pipes. I managed to get it fixed and when I took the bongo out again it seemed fine for a short while but then the temp gauge started to rise again. I managed to get it home with some stopping and starting but so...

Re: Rust

If one was to replace both rear arches, how much would you be looking to budget for? I think it's just one of those things that all Bongos eventually need in time!

Re: HVO

This could be a gamechanger for old diesel units like ours if it becomes fairly standard!

Re: Gearstick Hold Switch

If you can't get it off then I'd just cover the switch in contact cleaner, work it a few times, see if that does anything. It's an annoying problem but not a show-stopper either, I find I never use it. Or, if you were desperate, run a couple of wires and do a separate switch?

Re: ford ranger fly by wire injector pump in a bongo

Would be interested to know this myself. Nothing wrong with our pump but I've always been surprised at the cost of the units!

Re: reupholstery

You've probably had this sorted already but any decent upholstery place should be able to do it.

Re: Radiator temp sensor

Sounds like a good plan based on your prior experience so. Any extra warning is better than none really!

I'm not sure where the ATF is cooled but if you follow the pipes under the gearbox it should be easy to see. I think there might a cooler matrix for it which is separate to the main rad.

Re: Viewed another one

Find a good mechanic who knows their way around a Bongo. Alkers is correct - there isn't that much to go wrong, but they're getting a bit old now and they do need some TLC. If you're not up for taking care of it yourself, have someone on call who can.

Re: Radiator temp sensor

No doubt your engine will appreciate the new bits and pieces. I'd be more inclined to put the temp sensor at the back of the engine though. There are a couple of spare holes there that you can tap out to fit the sensor. It's where people put the likes of TM2 engine temp alarm sensors and such. That ...

Would be worth doing a search on the forum here, I've read some stories about some seller and it wasn't good...could be what you've found.

Re: How does this look??

Someone else will be along shortly with a more educated opinion - Geoff is usually around here and he really knows his stuff. Has this Bongo got a valid MOT? Are there advisories or whatnot for rust? It looks like it was undersealed before but I don't think it's been topped up. I believe you kinda n...

Re: Passed the test

The radio should have been where the heating controls are. It's an awful stretch across  Well if you're going to get a steering wheel remote, make sure it's a Bluetooth one. The IR one only just about works when you're driving on a straight road (line of sight) It's a serious stretch for a sho...

Re: Passed the test

Hi Oibaf, congrats on getting the van through the test. Just going to say that you would be better of buying an ISO wiring harness adapter and just plugging it in. I had to wire mine directly and it was a pain as you've to figure out the colour code. Also, you should get a cage with the stereo but ...
