Re: Help! Diesel leak - currently broken down

Thanks Geoff. It wasn't too bad to get to. It was right under the driver's seat but the diesel appeared to be leaking from further back, so hopefully that's the only cause and we can get on our way!

Re: Help! Diesel leak - currently broken down

Update - seems it was a split pipe/hose from the diesel pump. Someone is coming to fix it in the morning. Fingers crossed that will be it and we can start our holiday 🤞🏻

Help! Diesel leak - currently broken down

Hi 2 hours into a 4 hour journey this evening I noticed that the fuel gauge was going down too quickly and there was a spray on the rear window. Pulled over in a Tesco car park and diesel is leaking from a big block in the front half lengthwise. See photo. Green Flag (or someone) are on their way bu...

Re: wheel temperatures while driving

Thanks all - sounds like I'd better get them checked out :( Better to have it happen now than when we're away in it I guess :D

Re: wheel temperatures while driving

Both sides. By binding you mean sticking? We haven't used the van very much over the winter but we have used it every 2 or 3 weeks, for journeys of of 30 minutes or so.

wheel temperatures while driving

Hi all I fear this is a daft question but I have to ask it. Is it normal for the wheels to be hot after driving for a while? I have normal non-alloy wheels and I mean the main metal bit that gets bolted to the car, not the detachable trims. I'll call these the wheel rims - please correct me if this ...

Re: problem with gas burner

We're in Dorchester. I have searched as per your suggestion and it found several places nearby. Thanks Ian - that's the sort of thing I was looking for. I will contact one of them, knowing I can give it a go myself if necessary.

Re: problem with gas burner

Thanks Geoff. Sorry, of course I meant thermocouple - my googling about this was all during the summer. I'm not sure there is a make and model on the hob (and it was fitted by a previous owner) but I can look underneath tonight. Worst case scenario I remove the old thermocouple and find a replacemen...

problem with gas burner

Hi all Not sure if this is the correct forum - please advise if not. Our Bongo has a little kitchen unit with a sink and a two burner hob. Using it this summer the larger of the two burners was getting harder and harder to light. Normally you hold down the dial and turn it to the 'fully on' position...

Re: tyres question

Understood. In an ideal world everyone would stick exactly to the manufacturer's instructions but I see a lot of people use the same on all four tyres and in fact the fact sheet from Bongo Fury says as much. Replacing all four tyres, which are working perfectly and don't need replacing yet from a tr...

Re: tyres question

Hi Bob Thanks for your reply. I did read that the date of manufacture was on the inside of the tire! But I will try and check them. You're saying not to risk using the spare as it stands (wrong size). Any thoughts about using 215/65R15 on all wheels when the rears should be 215/70R15? Not sure how m...

tyres question

Hi all In preparation for a forthcoming trip away in our 97 4x4 2.5L diesel Bongo I decided to check the spare wheel. The tyre itself looked in pretty good nick but thinking it wasn't fully inflated we took it to a garage and sure enough it was only 11psi. During inflation, after a certain point I c...

Re: Query about wind-out awning

Our legs that come out when the awning is wound out are in two bits and we initially had issues with one of them coming apart. There is something there that locks them together. I can't wind it out currently to show what it is but if you can't see that bit it's probably missing I would guess. Good l...
