Re: Removing the rear speakers
The easy bit is running new speaker wires from the radio, just go over the engine bay and you're done. If the rear speaker is to be a new one, I would recommend replacing both at the same time, it's relatively straightforward to do, they are a 5 x 7 size, Alpine are cheap for a pair, a little over ...

Re: Extending the rear blind switches
Obviously you need to sort it, but don't forget the blinds can be operated manualy with no harm. They can? How? We've tried pulling them manually before and they don't give an inch. That was one of the reasons we wanted to move the switches in the first place, so the kids could easily move t...

Re: Extending the rear blind switches
20200803_140437.jpg 20200803_140442.jpg One of the problems is that there isn't the male side of the connector. That connector goes straight to the switch. Extending the original loom, which I did with the other one, isn't an option here as there's no way to get at enough of the wire to even cut it...

Extending the rear blind switches
It turns out that saying "Yes, great idea", isn't always a good idea. I've been nominated to move the offside rear blind switches to the side of the kitchen panels to make them easier to reach. The furthest one is proving hard as there isn't enough slack to allow me to get to the wire to c...

Re: Removing the rear speakers
Yeah. I guess that's probably the only solution left.
At the moment I'm drowning in cables and half cut pieces of panelling, saws, and general parts.
I only came out to fit a a shelf
Thanks for the help.

Re: Removing the rear speakers
Argh! I've spent too long jammed in to a small space in a hot campervan on even hotter days. Arrghh!
Time to angle grind the panel around the speaker. I'll migrate the entire area.

Removing the rear speakers
Hi I want to remove the offside rear speaker and take it away from the plastic panel, and reinstall it on the side kitchen panel so it's nearer the rock and roll bed (rather than behind the kitchen cupboard). However I physically cannot get the speaker out of the panel. Someone told me I need to rem...

Re: Installing noise suppression in the engine access panels
I think you can get heat proof ones from the better suppliers. It's not cheap, but might be worth it.ever after. wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2020 11:29 pm I thought about doing something similar but was worried incase the sound deadening material couldn't deal with the heat

Re: Installing noise suppression in the engine access panels
I have some dodo mat hex attached to mine, it’s self self adhesive as are most vehicle foams and sound insulation. I haven’t thought about attaching some closed cell foam but I’ve got loads of the kiravans silver stuff left over (7mm I think) so could do (if you’re anywhere near Sheffield you’re we...

Installing noise suppression in the engine access panels
Hi Someone has recommended that I attach 8mm closed cell foam and a layer of 2mm noise suppression stuff (forget the name at the mo) under the front seats, in the engine access areas to help with noise. Has anyone done this style of thing? Did it help reduce engine noise inside the cab? What type of...

Tightening the engine access clips
Hi all
What's the best way of tightening the engine access clips under the front seats? A couple of mine, when locked (or latched, whatever you want to call it) still seem to be loose.
Is it just a case of bending them so that they are tighter?
Olly

Charging batteries from the mains feed
Lo all Broadly speaking what's required to charge the batteries from the mains feed? Currently I have the mains socket, which connects to a consumer unit with and RCD or two. This goes to two mains plugs underneath the 12v switch panel (switches and USB ports). However the 12v feed doesn't meet the ...

Running a wire to the parking camera
Hi all Has anyone run a parking camera to the rear spoiler? Is there a straightforward route to take to the run the cable and power? I was going to tap power from the reversing lights but they're no way near the spoiler. Between the headset and the camera is the reversing alarm, so that might do. Bu...

Re: Bongo blind pattern template
Not yet, no. We're in the process of looking for blinds to butcher. Dunelm do have some black out blinds that are large enough to make two bongo blinds (from my rough approximation) so we're hoping to try it later in the summer. The list of jobs on the van has been so long that we haven't been able ...

Re: Fridge fitting question
Thanks Geoff From my measurements, the fridge will stick out further than the wood underneath our bed will allow for; the board under the bed will hot the edge of the fridge as it slides out. That might be just the way the wood under the bed has been cut or sized. But it's interesting that you say t...
