Re: Roof tent.

Hi all, apologies as its a busy time to be a plumber.I still haven't figured out how to post some pictures of the roof tent so if someone could advise i'd appreciate it. It seems I have to join smugmug or photobucket or similar then load the images on to that type of site then set a link so hopefully...

Re: Roof tent.

I'll make a point of posting some up this week Doone. It's genuinely not the easiest thing to do but patience equals results. I'm well skilled in various disciplines after a lifetime in the construction industry "on the tools" so that has helped massively even though painting was not my pa...

Re: My Insurance Renewal 2019-Beware Folks

As always Bob,good sound advice from yourself. I may now consider that rather than 10 yds back and forth occasionally after a 30 minute warm up.
That's the van by the way, not me. I should be so lucky!

Re: My Insurance Renewal 2019-Beware Folks

Does anyone know if the companies mentioned offer "laid up insurance" for when the vehicle is SORNed? The latest lockdown and ban on breaks and holidays has postponed our winter trips so no point in re taxing or insuring until it can be used.

Re: Roof tent.

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. Apologies for the delay but just wanted to update you all with regards to our roof tent. As previously stated, we were left with few options to cover the stains etc but eventually after much sampling we decided to hand paint the tent using "Daler Rowney system...

Re: Exploring Bongo Ownership

2litre engine is no problem. We drove fully loaded for a months holiday, over 800 miles with an overnight stop and fuel breaks with ease and on motorways managed to keep a steady 65-80 mph where permissable. Also journeyed just over 600 miles in one day, with the usual breaks, again with no worries. W...

Re: Exploring Bongo Ownership

Evening nesty, just reading your posts. I'm in SW Herts and was wondering if you've managed to sort a bongo yet?
I own a 2l petrol and its a terrific vehicle so any Q's feel free to ask.

Re: Roof tent.

Hi all, hope you're all well. An update re; the stains on the fabric roof section. Having now tried all the suggestions, including oxcylic acid ( thanks Maxi) and taken more advice, we are down to 2 choices*. Dylon fabric colouring(smoke grey) and a highly recommended fabric paint which I will patch...

Re: Roof tent.

Tbh never considered that option. It's such a P in the A as the rest of the van is in excellent condition and obviously isn't noticed until the roof is raised. Thanks everyone so far for your help.

Re: Roof tent.

It's light grey canvas c/w side mesh panels and a front pvc window with a zipped cover. The arms are positioned approx. 2' from the back end of the roof towards the front and are painted/powder coated black which has flaked off in places.

Roof tent.

Hi all. My first tech question so please be gentle! I have searched all the other threads but cannot find any real info. The roof on our Bongo raises by 2 side mounted cantilever arms, both of which have lost their coating in small areas and along with the non stainless screws, nuts and washers, hav...

Re: Newbie here

Thanks Bob. The FPO came in to see what I was up to and sussed it. I'll sort that and hopefully a picture for my profile tomorrow now that I've read up on that too. I genuinely cannot express enough how pleased we've been with the bongo and how good the performance, comfort, ease of driving etc actu...

Re: Newbie here

Hi all. At last i've finally signed up the forum after reading it for 4 years. We bought a 2 litre petrol Bongo back then and it's by far the best vehicle we have ever owned. It's still in top condition and sails through the MOT every year with the tester promising to take it off our hands whenever ...
