I can only describe it a s a kind of whirring noise - it sometimes starts when I take my foot off the accelerator and as the revs fall the whirring starts then fades out. On acceleration the whirr comes is at a constant tone and volume then as I ease off ...

OK - I've checked the transmission oil and I don't think there is a problem with it - does not smell burnt and the small amount on the dipstick looked clear and there was enough of it.

One thing that seems to be happening is that the noise only comes on dry days - in the rain it tends to stay away ...

Bob - it was the year 2000 the engine capacity is 2490cc

g8dhe - there seems to be plenty of transmission oil - don't know when it was last changed - anything I should look out for re smell / colour of oil and is it easy to change the transmission oil?
