Re: overheating issue

I doubt very much that it's a "MAIN DEALER" that is going to undertake this work. They usualy shy away from old jalopies ,unless they are desperate  #-o :D Haydn probably just means one of the main places/dealers for Bongos. Whilst you're here, with your knowledge of these things, w...

Re: Coolant problems

Hi guys. Successful trip to Holland! Come back on Friday. After following the 3 part YouTube videos, I bled it myself. Chuffed to bits. Faith restored!!! 😍😍

Thanks for the advice everyone. Top forum. 👍👍👍

Re: overheating issue

Phew & well done for getting it sorted. Similar scenario here. Stressful! We've been trying to fix the car for weeks & now it seems to be the cylinder head according to the garage. They quote £1000 & a week or two to fix it. Does this sound reasonable? I hope you have a great time in Ho...

Re: overheating issue

I've had coolant problems myself recently. Leaked water out from a rot hole in a steel pipe. Garage fixed the pipe, bled it, took it for a run, then told me it was vapouring white smoke, so will be head gasket or head. Wasn't convinced they'd bled it correctly, so took it to my workshop and bled it...

Re: overheating issue

No worries Bob.

Thanks for the advice on the bleeding it properly. It's another string to the bow. Feel a bit more confident now, having done it myself. The coolant problems seem to be the achilles heel for these, so nice to get a bit of knowledge on it. 👍👍

European breakdown cover

Hi everyone

Does anyone have any recommendations for who to use for European breakdown cover? It's for a 1995 TD. It seems a number of companies on the net only do up to 16yrs old. 😕

Thanks

Re: Coolant problems

Thanks for the replies guy. It certainly looks like it's coming down to the bleeding.

Funny you should mention the 3 part video on YouTube - I watched it on YouTube on Saturday morning! 😃 I sent the mechanic the links. 👍👍👍

Re: Coolant problems

Hi Bob

No, wasn't a Bongo specialist. Is at a garage on my industrial estate. They are very good and have know the guys a long time, but that doesn't always mean anything I guess.

It's no longer vapouring, and coolant level doesn't really drop, it's just the temp gauge rising above half. 😕

Coolant problems

Hi all! Looking for some help and advice please. My Bongo was recently popped a hole in a steel water pipe and chucked all the water out. I topped it back up with water and limped it back home. After taking it to a garage, they cut off the rotten piece of pipe with the hole, bled it back up, but dia...
