Engine Cranking but not starting. Video
Hi, I replaced my cylinder head, and I am having trouble getting the Van to start. The engine will crank, but not fire. See video. https://youtu.be/OktmKrEhMHU I have checked all the vacuum and fuel pipes are connected. Fitted new glow plugs, and just fitted a new fuel filter. Following some old pos...

Re: Identify Gaskets help
Go for it. So, far, removing my cylinder head, getting it tested and skimmed, and refitting with a new Head Gasket, is setting me back about 120 pounds.
It cost me that a few years back, just to have my Bongo transported to a specialist before any one had looked at it, at X pounds an hour

Re: Identify Gaskets help
Hi Hazzobngo, thank you for your reply. That makes sense regarding the stem seals. I took my CH off to be tested and skimmed. At least I know I can skip those. I will check the front end of the cam tomorrow for that seal, and the rear. The silver and rubber seals are still a mystery. Definitely not ...

Identify Gaskets help
Hello, I am in the process of replacing my cylinder head and need help identifying, some gaskets that came with my Head Gasket set. I have a manual and have been looking at lush projects, but I am still confused. I kept all the gaskets and bits I removed, or thought I did. From left to right 1. Valv...

Photo of cylinder head attached. Apparently it is not cracked, which is good news. My research points me in the direction of a massive air lock, if you spot the similarities in the two attached photos.

Thank you. I have now removed the cylinder head ; it is with a local engineering company getting pressure tested. I hope to find out the result on Wednesday

Re: Overheating /Over Pressurised 1996, 2.5TD Bongo
Thank you Hazzo. Waterpump installed, will test tomorrow night. Can I suggest you fit a High, coolant alarm as well. When my last head cracked, my Haydn Alarm was never triggered, as it did not get hot enough. The low coolant alarm was never triggered, as the system was over pressurised, and pushing...

Re: Overheating /Over Pressurised 1996, 2.5TD Bongo
Hi Geoff, it is not throwing coolant out of the expansion tank, that was a reference to my problem two years ago. I am on my way back from Euros with a new water pump. I will try and fit it tonight /tomorrow. Thanks Teenmal. I will try out another cap. I think I have a selection from a few years bac...

Re: Overheating /Over Pressurised 1996, 2.5TD Bongo
Here is a photo of my waterpump from underneath. Does that look like it is leaking? https://postimg.cc/gnj6WHv7 Higher resolution https://postimg.cc/D84y6jQ7 It is certainly wet below the housing. Albeit everything is covered in oil, so when you touch it, you just get wet oil. It is not glowing with...

Re: Overheating /Over Pressurised 1996, 2.5TD Bongo
Hi Bob, thank you for your reply. No shrieking, so I presume it is not seized. It is only two years old. I am going to get a mirror down there now and see if I can spot any leaks

Re: Overheating /Over Pressurised 1996, 2.5TD Bongo
Hi Geoff thank you for your reply. I was up early and managed to get to the heater matrix pipes. After a short 10 minute drive, they were both hot. So I suspect you are right to discount the front heater matrix, which is good as it looks like a bugger to disconnect. Both the fans behind the radiator...

Re: Overheating /Over Pressurised 1996, 2.5TD Bongo
Hi Geoff, thank you for your reply. The water pump was replaced by a Bongo specialist 2/3 years ago, but it could be failing. Is there a way to check? Someone on another forum has mentioned the front heater matrix could be clogged and could I temporarily by pass it. Is this possible? I should have m...

Overheating /Over Pressurised 1996, 2.5TD Bongo
Hello, two years ago, I was active on the forum as my Bongo was throwing coolant out of the expansion tank; after months of stress, a new cylinder head solved my problems. A new radiator, thermostat, water pump, low coolant alarm, haydn cylinder head temperature gauge, were also added to my Bongo. A...

Re: Identify Pipe help
Hi Jules, Doone...new head, low coolant alarm, cylinder head alarm, UV dye in the coolant...prior to that, new radiator, water pump, thermostat, new coolant hose pipe set...oh, dye so I can spot any leaks. About to bypass the rear heater this week. I am doing just about everything possible to protec...
