Re: MOT fail on emissions

Passed!

The Cataclean and giving it a good blast certainly did the trick.

CO dropped from 0.620 to 0.102 and the HC came down from 204 to 78.Took it out for a 20 min warm up immediately before the test and straight onto the ramp!

Thanks again for all the advice.

Re: MOT fail on emissions

Thanks as always for the really helpful advice. That's the new brakes and the ABS sorted so it's back in tomorrow for the MOT test and of course the all important emissions re test. Gave it a blast this afternoon with a quarter tank of petrol and the bottle of cataclean added. I've never driven the ...

Re: MOT fail on emissions

Cheers Geoff. I suppose it would be useful if I were to post the specifics so here goes! It failed on the CO and the HC readings and passed the Lambda. CO Max is 0.300 reading was about 0.620/0.816 HC Max is 200, reading was 204/227 As I say Lambda was bang on at around 1.000 Doesn't sound like it f...

MOT fail on emissions

So, the 2001 2.5 V6 has failed on the emissions test. I'm not hugely surprised as it's not been used much over the last year and what use it's had has mainly been tootling about in Edinburgh city centre traffic. The garage has suggested I put some 'cataclean' in it and give it a good run then they w...

Re: ABS warning light and diagnostic question

Thanks for that guys. It failed the MOT as anticipated but the garage didn't have time to do the detective work for the ABS repair so it's booked in for next Tues. One of the other things it failed on was a blown rear fog lamp bulb. I know a blown rear brake bulb can trigger the ABS light, don't sup...

ABS warning light and diagnostic question

Hi The ABS warning light (4W/ABS) has just come on the day before my daughter's 2001 V6 is due for it's MOT (timing eh!) I checked the rear brake lights but sadly(?) they're both working (inc high level) so not that. I was wondering if my local garage who are doing the MOT need any special equipment...

Re: No power to radio, central locking, electric mirrors and front interior lights.

Well my daughter put the Bongo into a local auto electrician as per plan and it turns out that there was a problem with the leisure battery relay and splitter which caused the leisure battery not to charge and then led to the failure of the interior lights/radio/wing mirrors and central locking whic...

Re: No power to radio, central locking, electric mirrors and front interior lights.

Basically yes. if the either of the charging fuses blow then the battery will loose charge over time but it will normally show some small voltage unless its been left a long time, or the 10 Amp fuse to the unswitched power has been blown for some reason. Makes sense, anyway she's booked it into an ...

Re: No power to radio, central locking, electric mirrors and front interior lights.

Can you test your leisure battery with a multimeter and see what voltage is has? Then at least you'll know if it's charged or not Apparently my daughter checked the voltage by checking the meters inside above the kitchen conversion. Car battery is fine, Leisure battery is dead as a duck so it's not...

Re: No power to radio, central locking, electric mirrors and front interior lights.

Is it possible that the ' common main fuse' on the leisure battery has blown when the relay dropped and was disconnected?

Also, I wasn't aware that there was a separate LB fuse box, any idea where this is commonly found?

Thanks once again for all the help!

Re: No power to radio, central locking, electric mirrors and front interior lights.

The black box was definitely the leisure battery relay as I identified it with help on this forum a few months back (I'm the OP's dad!!) Found this thread Holly which looks like it's relevant and might suggest that the culprit is a blown fuse on the leisure battery relay, not sure which one that wou...

Ended up buying this:

Stows away, quite thick so should be comfy, right size, good reviews and pretty cheap!

The inevitable tin worm!

Hi I've noticed some surface rust on the bottom surface of the rear wheel arches of our silver Bongo. It's confined to the downward facing thin strip facing the top of the wheels (if that makes sense!) Obviously from reading this forum I'm aware that it's cricial to catch it early before all you're ...
