Re: To Bongo or Not To Bongo....?

Bob, thanks for another reply. Yes, an idea buzzing around the back of my head was about a camping kitchen/cupboard that I could stash everything in and put in the boot... It certainly offers versatility.

Re: To Bongo or Not To Bongo....?

Thanks Bob, I'll check out all those links. We do have a tight budget, but we like to do lots of things, so I'm used to keeping costs down and shopping around; ieven if I don't get a Bongo, the next car I get will be our dayvan in one way or another and I will be doing regular checks and servicing ...

To Bongo or Not To Bongo....?

I've been here before, looking at a Bongo, asking advice, a few years ago now. We decided not to go forward in the end, we still wanted a caravan, and towing with a Bongo appeared easy enough except when applying licence limitations and no-one at the vehicle/licence agencies would confirm if the ...

Re: Towing Weights and MAM

Hi Bob.

Thanks for that. Turns out the owner had the export certificate and the gvw of a petrol auto 2.0l 2000 mazda bongo is 2040kg in case anyone needs it in the future.

Cheers all

Towing Weights and MAM

Hello All,

Looking at a Bongo, need some help with weights.

Current owner has weighed it at 1790kg with tank full, no drivergluten. But the garage they bought it from only told me that another petrol auto 2.0 has a MAM of 2050kg which means I can't get my family in there without exceeding MAM, let ...

Re: Potential Bongo Owner Seeks Advice

Thanks for that. The current owner is taking that list, along with my concerns about the corrosion on the arches and sills (doesn't look extensive), to a reputable garage for a firm quote.

Prepurchase Inspections

I read a thread on here that didn't throw a great light on AA pre-purchase inspections for Mazda Bongos. I don't want to be needlessly put off of what could be a good camper, so I'm asking if anyone has experienced AA/RAC pre-purchase inspections and their opinion of it.

Also, if you could ...

Re: Potential Bongo Owner Seeks Advice

Thanks for all your replies.

We're going to get is checked out by the AA, although if there's another company that would be better, I'd be happy to hear about it. I'll be talking to the campervan centre that sold, converted and serviced/MOT'd it since it came over, today, to ask a couple of ...

Potential Bongo Owner Seeks Advice

We have the chance to obtain our very first Mazda Bongo. I'll list some pertinent details below but wanted to know what kind of problems I might run into (parking, driving, security, insurance, mechanical issues...) and if it's worth the dosh! Also, is there a checklist I should take with me to ...
