Re: Amateur Radio Bongo (QRP Bongo)

That is a lovely old rig ! I am learning about ATV, i'm slightly frustrated the IC9700 doesnt carry the ATV repeater outputs in the UK. I have contacted ICOM UK and they have passed this onto Japan, so who knows, hopefully its something they can unlock in a firmware update. I can see the output in t...

Re: Rough start but then no problem at all

Many thanks all - really apprecaite the responses. I have some glowplugs here thankfully, but its a tad dark to do it now. I'll check it out at the weekend, really great advice on checking the relay, will do that first light Saturday. Is changing the glowplugs straightforward enough or should I take...

Rough start but then no problem at all

Re: Amateur Radio Bongo (QRP Bongo)

Hi G8DHE and G0RMH ! Many thanks for your posts ! Hope you can get back on the air Bob, its fairly active across the radio spectrum as we (slowly) come out of the solar minimum, get quite good lift on the VHF/UHF more these days (still sporadic, but makes it more fun !) Thats a fantastic setup you h...

Amateur Radio Bongo (QRP Bongo)

Hello Fellow Bongo users ! Not sure if there are any other amateur radio operators and bongo owners, but I'm off out tomorrow with my Bongo and QRP (low power) radio. I'll also have my handheld 2m/70cm with me as the location I'm going to is quite high up ! I done a test-run with the radio and anten...

I moved from Hove to Bournemouth in 2015, my bongo joined me in 2016. When I first arrived spotting another bongo was a rare occurance ! Now i can see (on a regular basis) - Green bongo identical to mine, but theirs is better looking Very nice looking White Bongo - think this is an Aero one - the ow...

Re: Burping bongo

:) Funny thread now :) I dont have a perm setup in my Bongo yet for a radio. Will investigate over the winter. Here is the video of operation from the New Forest from the Bongo ! Was great fun to get away from the interference of the home. http://alz0r.stoatopic.net/resize/9574396f-4456-48de-9415-b1...

Re: Burping bongo

Hi All,

Pleased to reporting that following the video resulted in the temp staying rock-solid on Low, appreciate all the videos and input on here.
And nice to meet a fellow amateur radio operator - hopefully our bongos and log-books will be in touch some day.

Kind Regards,
Alan

Re: Burping bongo

My 2M/70cm mast is not up at the moment (40ft) in IO90BS, but I'm usually monitoring. Tend to use the GB3IW repeater with its fantastic south coast coverage, and Mere when IW gets too busy ! To keep to Bongo-thread friendly I do enjoy very much going to the New Forest in the Bongo with my radio(s). ...

Burping bongo

Hi Team, Recently had an issue with my bongo overheating, thankfully identified as a leaking pipe going over the starter motor. Since then I have noticed that the temperature gauge will creep up, and sometimes go near to high, then go back down to near-normal at the C end of the meter. The bongo mak...

attach a metal plate to roof for antenna mag mount

Hi Bongo-Fury fellows ! I'm looking for a way to attach a mag-mount antenna to my bongo, ideally on the roof, which presents the problem that it is plastic. Are there any other fellow ham/cb operators who are /M and how they have attached a mag-mount to their bongo ? I think the bonnet is too low/sh...

Re: Tailgate wont open

Hi Gents, After stripping out my kitchen and trying to find a way to reach the handle, saw the advice on here and went down the 'central locking' route. What was important was that my fuse #1 wasnt working correctly either, so probably the reason why the central locking had stopped working. Done a s...
