Re: How can I protect my new exhaust/catalytic converter from being stolen again??

My drinking water tank is pretty close to the cat under the step, it has 3mm steel frame, it would make removal slightly awkward and I would like to think if they tried they’d nick the tank with the grinder and get 30L of water all over them. How much I expect a bit of water to inconvenience or upse...

Re: Rear Springs

I just bought a set of uprated springs (25% stiffer) from spring coil as they are local to me because I wanted to reduce body roll a little. Not fitted yet so can’t say much more but given you’re towing you might want stiffer springs or an airlift kit, I’m hoping springs don’t stiffen the ride too m...

Re: Full Service Guide (V6)

The rocker cover bolts should be 4nm of something, basically hand tight, anymore and chances are something will have been snapped as I found on mine. Should only be instant gasket on the sharp angled edges of the cam half moon type thing at from end (clearly the correct technical term :D ) If your c...

Re: Air Con Pipes (rear)

I don’t think there is any special technique, you should obviously have an o-ring on the fitting and they should fit snugly into the opening and the bolts just tighten up. I’ve removed my rear heater and capped the rear aircon pipes but I’ve still got the radiator and fittings so can check at the we...

Re: Rock and Roll bed supplier recommendation

Two locking pins under a flap at front, sliding section is on wheels, remove seatbelt tension and gently slide forwards. Putting it back to a seat is a little harder but it has a good handle that you need to pull up whilst pushing frame backwards until pins lock back in

Re: Rock and Roll bed supplier recommendation

Mine is from JDS as they were reasonably local. Bought it about 3 years ago seems well made and no issues with sleeping on it. Only minor issue is that ideally it could with being mounted another 6 inches further back so that there is no gap between the head end and boot door but I don’t think it’s ...

Dynax s50 into wheel arch cavities can be done by removing little cubby holes in the rear trim as it comes with a long lance. Easiest with trim out though. You’ll want to do rear corners too by removing light clusters and probably drill 2 small holes in these areas under bumper as they are notorious...

Re: Mazda 3 wheels suitability?

The wheels on my 3 were all bent to some degree after a couple of years of potholes. Higher sidewalls would have helped but pretty sure they won’t be up to much on a bongo

On the subject of steels, some pretty good ideas on one of the Facebook groups

Re: Buying a 2.5 V6

I’ve have had a 2001 v6 for a year after the body work on my diesel got beyond my ability. It had only been in U.K. since 2018 so was clean underneath. Mechanically just make sure cambelt and cam oil seals have been done. I’ve done all the fluid changes just incase and aside from that I found a tiny...

Seems like Toyota 1uzfe is the engine of choice for a lot of swaps, quite fancy upgrading v6 to v8 :D

Re: Heating a V6 Petrol

Diesel heater in my v6, 2.5L tank inbetween main battery and aircon evaporator / cabin fan stuff. Fill up a Jerry can then fill from that. It manages about 24 hours continuous on that volume of fuel, it’s a Webasto so might be more efficient than Chinese, only needs a couple of hours tops per day be...

Moved ignition coil as far forward as I could, egr tank as far backwards as possible and wiring a bit. Egr tank needed slightly longer hoses I used standard fuel pipe. If you’re routing your ducting to sliding door I reckon you can just move the tank A47DDECB-72D6-4793-9005-B1B40E6B334A.jpeg CE72F87...

Re: Insurance claim and bongo parts - canada

I had reasonably similar damage to my rear quarter and it was fixed good as new by pulling it back out. Obviously the damage midway is more of the issue here but I was surprised how well they were able to fix the damage, hopefully you can find a decent body shop nearby

... (it used to make a tapping noise when cold but it's very quiet now) Interesting, I’d say mine falls into this category of being a bit noisy when cold, it’s due an oil and filter change though so that might help or I might too have some melted bits inside :D hopefully it won’t need rebuilding an...

Cleaned up reasonably well, filled the big gaps with some quicksteel and a smear of three bond 1207b to deal with any minor imperfections and so far so good 3245A240-2E72-4F6B-B825-9E4BD4D8A151.jpeg Getting a dremmel in was hardest bit made even more difficult by side conversion so seat can only ope...
