Garage cleared codes but cannot remember what they were. Definitely gear box.

Have had some helpful replies already. The garage strongly suspect it is the ECU/TCU. It gets to the top of revs range, seems to be restricted and then changes with a bang. All fault codes were cleared, it ran for 3 hours and now no power and struggles before clearing again. Very difficult to ...

Can anyone advise me on where, or how, to locate the above unit within the vehicle. I have been trying to source a new part and have been told I require the part number to do so.
The vehicle is a 2000 petrol 2.0l automatic
