Steering Wheel Replacement - Hub Contacts?

Hi all. I saw something recently about someone having replaced their steering wheel with an RX8 wheel and retained functionality of the horn. My Bongo is a '95 with no airbag. As such there's a single rotary disc behind my existing wheel which contacts with a spring to provide the connection for the...

Re: Replace short seat rails for long rails?

Thanks chaps. I see the confusion Bob. I actually need the back seats you see, but I've found the Gull Wing type don't quite give me enough room in the back. Otherwise it'd be lovely to just flip one up. Unfortunately my girlfriend and I have 4 kids between us, so we need all the seats for sitting a...

Thanks Bob.

How come? Can't I move the rear bench forward a touch to give me a bit more depth in the boot?

Replace short seat rails for long rails?

Hi all. Is this possible? I vaguely recall reading somewhere that it is. I'd like to replace my rear gull wing seats for an additional sliding bench to make more boot space for a rear kitchen pod. Will my middle bench seat runners still work on long rails, or would I need to change the runners too? ...

Re: Uh-oh - Coolant Woes.

Hmmm. Not getting very firm immediately after starting. Only once engine temp gets to normal 11'o clock position. It does concern me that I've had to release a lot of pressure from the system after some runs. But then again if the radiator has leaked (which does seem to be the cause of all this afte...

Re: Uh-oh - Coolant Woes.

So after getting some help and doing a proper bleed of the cooling system, I fear the worst for my Bongo. Using the proper method of clearing air from the system, after a very long period, probably the best part of an hour with the front end up on ramps there are still bubbles coming up through the ...

Re: Sliding Door Central Locking Actuator

Success! My ebay motor worked a treat. I've already bought another 5 for future use, I'm going to assume that the Passenger door and Boot use the same one so it made sense to have a few spares. This is the one I got, but there are plenty of them around. Dimensions-wise it's a direct replacement or t...

Re: Uh-oh - Coolant Woes.

Squeezing/identifying a top hose that is not rigid before engine start but becomes rigid v quickly (i.e. before stat can have opened) after cold engine start is i think i've heard a 'kick the tyres' rough pressure test for a system that is being pressurised by a compromised head or head gasket. And...

Re: Sliding Door Central Locking Actuator

Thanks for the advice folks. I had managed to prove that a pulse of voltage was getting past the door contacts, so I'm pretty confident that the motor was at fault. Especially after completely removing the motor from the mechanism, but still having it connected electrically and locking the driver's ...

Uh-oh - Coolant Woes.

Hi all, It's that time again! Another newbie with an overheating Bongo. I'm currently at about "Stage III" which is "Oh cr@p, I really hope it isn't they cylinder head/gasket". I had a trouble free motorway run on Friday night. Then yesterday during a quick round town run ...

Re: Double Din Sat Nav, DVD and stereo

Great idea. I'm thinking of doing the same as I'm in the cusp of buying one of these units for my Bongo. They seem to get decent reviews, although I do wonder how many of the reviews are genuine. 🤔 Any opinions folks? I like how versatile it is , with options for up to 3 camera inputs, 2 display out...

Re: Sliding Door Central Locking Actuator

Have you actually spoken with George at BongoSpares ? Not everything gets put on the web site as there can be so many parts and variations ? The same goes for most of the other spares locations especially with second hand items. Yeah I did call them to see if there was one they'd consider breaking ...

Re: Sliding Door Central Locking Actuator

Thanks for the suggestions all. I think I'm going to answer my own question really and say: Yes - I am just being tight. Spent a lot of my day today looking at various motors on ebay, searching for alternatives and calling round known Bongo Breakers and it does seem like this part is worth the price...

Sliding Door Central Locking Actuator

Morning all! I've started my day feeling a little disappointed if I'm honest. I had my sliding door in bits yesterday to figure out why the central locking wasn't working. It turned out, as I suspected, to be the actuator motor. Happy that I had identified the faulty part, I went off to look on Bong...

Greetings Bongonauts!

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. Recently became the proud owner of a 1996 2.5 TD AFT, it's definitely seen better days but still in good nick in all the places that count. I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time and effort to get it as good as possible in time for a ...
