Upgrading Tailgate Struts

Since installing our Thule bike carrier, the tailgate doesn't stay up. I don't need it to stay up with bikes on (as that would be slightly daft) but as its our daily vehicle, I do need the tailgate to stay open without bikes on it. Anyone had any experience of upgrading the gas struts to handle the ...

Re: AFT hatch mod

Here are pics of the hatch mod I did some time ago I thought may be of interest for those with kids especially. Basically its three pieces of ply of different thicknesses and some stretch carpet. The end flap is hinged using the old lift panel hinge backs. The centre panel can be stored upright aga...

Re: Homemade bedboards and platform removal

A few weeks ago, I had a PM from new forum member Mrs Muffinhead. She was asking about how we'd made the Bongo more usable for a family of four, considering the potential difficulties the roof hatch can cause with communication and checking on kids whilst sleeping etc. I promised to take some photo...

Professionally fitting fridge in Scotland

Hi, apologies if not in the right place to be posting this or if there was an answer via search, had a look. We have a decent side conversion in our bongo, but no fridge. There's a perfect space for it, but just not there. Two questions: I would like to get it done professionally, does this have to ...

Re: Bike carrier help required

Your requirements are similar to ours, we went for the Thule 973 which enables you to retain the spoiler. We wanted to take up to four bikes but as standard the 973 is for two, and you can add one or two more bike rails. We used the 973-02 fitting kit but the 973-18 works too. Some photos below of ...

Buggy, Bikes and Storage Question

Hi All, first time and brand new BONGO OWNER! Picked up the van two nights ago, and loving it so far. We have 3 year old twins and all of us are going for a week's touring around the Scottish Highlands next week. It's our only car, and we have a double buggy, and my question is this: Has anyone ever...
