I rang the garage and the mechanic insisted that the temp gauge worked when he left it idling to warm up for about 10 minutes but he said it was very slow. I just tested it and its true it did eventually get to 11oclock after about 15 minutes idling. Whats weird is I drove it for an hour the other ...

Thanks. I assumed the garage doing the work must have checked if the temperature sensor was working. I will ring them today and ask what they did.

One more question. I dont know how much ATF fluid to put in but do i need to put the ATF fluid in while engine is cold and not running or while it is hot and running so i can keep checking the level on the dip stick?
