Re: Bongo EGR valve replacement

My Citroën berlingo has the EGR blanked off after recording a sticking valve on the OBD meter. It has been through 2 previous MOT's with no problem, it was not even noticed by the MOT station. Ironically the emissions have been lower since blocking off. Dont see how the MOT station would know if not...

Re: Advice sought on my first Bongo

Having spend several months searching the ads for a bongo for my nephew (I already own one), I would say £7k for a 97 is a little expensive. You could find a good 2.5 diesel for considerably less of that year. The v6 has a strong engine but can be a little more fragile than the 2.5 diesel and 2.0 pe...

Re: Adding Uv dye to a 2.0lt petrol bongo

Hello Just thought I would post an update on my "coolant leak" which dates back a few months and several post back. To recap I discovered my rear coolant matrix had leaked one evening and only discovered the following day after hearing a water sloshing sound in the front matrix whilst driv...

Re: attaching an awning

Hello Barney58 Yes the guttering on each side of the van is used for mounting the figure of 8 strips. I bought my single length of figure of 8 from my local caravan supplier, having a single length rather than 3 pieces makes for easier attachment. Once on they are pretty secure and I have not experi...

Re: Great campsite in Kent

Hello Flanners. Thanks for your post. I think I will need to practice setting up the awning with regards to distancing. Sadly none of the reviews I read before purchasing mentioned this concern/potential problem. At the moment I am more inclined to continue using our pop up tent as this works great ...

Re: Great campsite in Kent

Hello Flanners. Like you we camped the past weekend (at Still Acres) with the intention of trying out the drive away awning. I have the Sunncamp silhouette 225 which is small but met our needs. I do have one complaint mind, the awning fits from 180 - 225cm height vehicles. I attached mine using the ...

Re: Rear Heater Leak

Hello. I had exactly the same problem with my rear matrix. My fix was to bypass the matrix using some 15mm copper pipe, 2 copper elbows, which come pre soldered so you just need to heat them with a blow torch to fit them. And finally 2 copper pipe joiners which go over the pipe (which insert into yo...

Re: Adding Uv dye to a 2.0lt petrol bongo

Hello Doone I have some history with the vehicle but nothing showing possible dye use. I am of the opinion it's old dye as I have continued to monitor the level and it has remained static, I will cover a few more miles before being convinced mind but signs are more positive. The extent of the dye co...

Re: Adding Uv dye to a 2.0lt petrol bongo

Hello Thelongroad Thanks for your reply, I guess mine is more 11 to 11.30 if I'm being more precise. Over the hot weekend we had down south the temperature remained at 11.30 max even when sitting in traffic so I am hopeful it's settling down now and the previous coolant loss was trapped air slowly b...

Re: Homemade awning sloping towards Bongo

Hello I too made my own sun shade running from the gutters to two poles. I opted to shorten the poles to allow water to run away from the van and like you, I do have to duck on entering. I did read a post some time back where owners were talking about the seams from the guttering and roof leaking du...

Re: Adding Uv dye to a 2.0lt petrol bongo

Hello Bob Thanks for your reply. I have since spoken to two local garages although neither specialise or have much experience of Bongos, one suggested dropping it off over night and they would run a radiator pressure test followed by a compression test to check for any problems and the other recomme...

Re: U-shaped cabin bulb - alternatives?

Hi I converted mine to LED and it really is very easy. No wires to cut rather just removing the light unit, a little bit of soldering and reassemble. There is a really good description on here https://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=74123 which includes photos. The LEDs were bou...

Re: Adding Uv dye to a 2.0lt petrol bongo

Another question if I may. If the head has cracked or the head gasket needs replacing, which ever low coolant causes, what symptoms should I be experiencing other than my coolant loss. As my van appears to run perfectly, starts on the button, idles smoothly, revs as it should, cruises without missin...
