Re: Off to Scotland

I know on Skye last year or the year before they had a surge of visitors (due to good weather daytrippers and also peopple tagging it on to the NC500) so much so that some nights they had to open up the local halls and put beds in for people as there was no accommodation anywhere on the island, so i...

Re: Any Bongo friendly workshop in Fife?

Just an update. Campers Scotland have recommended Hunters in Falkirk. I can't vouch for them as I haven't use them yet but will report back if/when I do. I can't speak highly enough off Campers Scotland and Gary that has been dealing with my enquiry. He went out of his way to help which I really ap...

Re: Bongo-friendly parking, Edinburgh

If I'm down in Edinburgh I generally park out of town in a train station where I can park for free (Bathgate/Livingston/Uphall) and just get the train in to save me having to find somewhere (although check there are no problems on the line first as I've been caught out). I haven't used the Park and ...

Re: Any Bongo friendly workshop in Fife?

I might be wrong about the rust prevention - it could just be the mechanical side that they don't do on vans bought elsewhere.

Re: Any Bongo friendly workshop in Fife?

I think there's a company called Fantastic Campers/Dairsie Autopoint in Dairsie and have heard they look at rust and undersealing, but I've never used so can't tell you how good or bad they are - they're on the list for Bongo friendly garages. I believe Campers Scotland only deal with vans that they...

Re: Off to Scotland

Re the dreaded Midges, I have made lots of enquiries and the outcome seems to be that they are unavoidable, so I will be resorting to the strongest repellent I can find. Camping by a shoreline can often keep them at bay if there's a breeze, Smidge is the best repellent I've found but by a riverside...

Re: Off to Scotland

Just to add on to what Muz has said: Loch Lomond is great to see (just check the roads before you go that they're not doing roadworks as it can cause big delays!), Oban is lovely as well. Glencoe is a fantastic road with mega scenery, and you can go to Skye via the ferry at Mallaig which takes you o...

Grove & Dean

Hey folks! I'm looking to renew my Bongo campervan insurance and stuck my details in to Quotezone and a company called Grove & Dean have come back with a very reasonable offer of £222.91 which includes breakdown... I wonder if anyone else has had any experience of them or heard about them on her...

Re: Cooking in a Bongo?

I bought this which is quite handy for sticking in the glove box for ideas, although to be honest you just need a bit of imagination! And a tin of custard, obviously... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1848990081/ref=asc_df_184899008157318519/?tag=googshopuk-21&creative=22110&creativeASIN=1...

Re: Potential Bongo Owner near Edinburgh

Welcome to the forum! I bought mine from Campers Scotland and I'm not sure I'd do it again to be honest. I wasn't the happiest with the service received. It's definitely worth trying before you buy for sure, maybe a weekend away in one to make sure it's what you're looking for. And shop around - tha...

Re: Travel insurance - anyone got for travelling round the UK?

I wasn't part of the C&CC when I was getting insurance so it's Adrian Flux I'm through - they have said the Awning is covered (although needless to say I can't find that information in my policy booklet) so the C&CC definitely seems to be more comprehensive - maybe I just need to be more car...

Re: Travel insurance - anyone got for travelling round the UK?

I suppose I just thought I better get due to getting for campervanning abroad, but you do make some very valid points there Bob! My awning is covered by the van insurance, and some of my other stuff is covered up to a point with my house insurance even if I'm away from home. After speaking to the in...

Travel insurance - anyone got for travelling round the UK?

Hi folks! I have great praise for travel insurance when I'm out of the country (mostly due to the other half breaking her ankle while travelling the world a few years back and them sorting everything out for us), so I decided to look into an annual insurance for travelling around the UK so I was cov...
