I ended up replacing the alternator as I couldn't very easily find an alternator repair shop. I'm sure there will be plenty around the Midlands, but the alt wasn't super expensive. Just an expensive error!
Still having issues getting solar to charge, I don't know if I fried something somewhere when ...

Re: Short in alternator loom, 100A fuse blows
Normally its the diode block in the alternator that is damaged and then shorts out the feed to the 100 Amp fuse. Normally quite a quick fix if you have a suitable alternator/starter repair shop local to you, mine was just 24 hours can't remember the cost but a lot cheaper than a replacement ...

Short in alternator loom, 100A fuse blows
Hi Bongo crew. It's been a while!
She's been off the road for a good while, in need of a weld to suspension bits, and general rust treatment.
In that time the dead leisure meant the solar didn't raise the LB enough to flip over to the starter, so that died too. Borrowed a donor batt to get the ...

Re: Replaced mazda bongo autobox but got no drive help please?
This is good info, thanks Alacrity. Did you (wrightcustomvans) ever get around to fixing this or figuring it out?
Looking at new gearboxes here as our van not getting up through the gears, getting no fault codes. There's a thread about it already (https://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/viewtopic.php?f ...

Re: Bongo topping out at 30mph, no gear up
"How is it relevant to this power/gear change issue I'm having?" - It is not relevant....I tolk what you must do too at AT... if brake band dont work right - you will "have strike" when AT change gear ratio....

Re: Bongo topping out at 30mph, no gear up
Thanks cutlass, will try to check the TPS with multimeter this afternoon. EGR has been blanked for last year, no ill effects, but maybe the valve got stuck/coked - I only blanked it just under the valve, so perhaps coke got to it over time. Stopped the sensor working? Wasn't able to get it off to ...

Re: Bongo topping out at 30mph, no gear up
Further update:
Removed EGR blanking plate to see if that wouldn't 'fix' the fault code warning. Might need to reset codes as they may no longer be relevant. Sprayed some carb cleaner into the EGR pipe but couldn't work out how to get the valve itself off, also remembered someone saying it can ...

Re: Bongo topping out at 30mph, no gear up
OK just got the codes. Was easier than I thought! Thanks, BF forums/factsheets :)
2 codes: 12 and 16, standing for throttle position sensor and the EGR valve position sensor.
Bearing in mind these were not flashing the hold light right now, so must have been saved to memory in the past.

I dont undestand - I write befor - connect TAT and GND and look flash-codes! may be it will say more....
Not sure how to do that, just looking to see if there's a factsheet now. Would my local garage with fault code reader be able to plug in and find out easier?
Update: the ATF was pumped out ...

Re: Bongo topping out at 30mph, no gear up
None of the above, cutlass.
I just re-earthed the fuel tank, so now that works. Played with the diaphragm lock-nut/screw settings. In 'L' it will rev high up to 40+ mph but in 'D' it still hits ~3k and then just almost disengages and revs with no matching acceleration.

Re: Bongo topping out at 30mph, no gear up
I would imagine 96 is early, If you are not sure you really need to get the Diesel removed from the housing for a visual inspection to determine you have a gauze or not.(it might be stuck in)but be careful with your prodding.
Thanks for that. V useful. Suspect problem is elsewhere now - have ...

"After last year's epic cylinder head change thread" - you bus "dont run" after that? or at first time be allright? wery offen many people dont install right timing belt - thay use second notch at crankshaft (as petrol engine), we must use 1-st notch!!! 2-ed notch use only for check timing of fuel ...
