Re: Time to Say Goodbye

To me the Regius and Alphards always feel like Bongo cousins whenever I see them (they are kind of in the same boat), they're a good choice for ex Bongo owners.

I personally would love to have a nosey inside one! I say stick around and show us yer insides :)

Re: Lpg

As per rita's post, you'll need to take to an LPG fitter for testing. They'll do a pressure test to check for leaks. If it's loosing that much so quickly maybe you can smell the gas leaking?

Hopefully nothing serious.

Re: Another newbie..

Hi and welcome. I use mine everyday for the school run/shopping/mtb base and weekends for days out. Then it's the holiday bus as well, so it's a real all rounder for me. I've got a 2ltr with LPG conversion so my fuel bills are less than others so that has to be taken into consideration. Agree with B...

Re: Black and Green Bongo

Thanks for the info, very useful :) Having never had a solar panel, you read about what they should be capable of and they all seem to suggest an 80w is more than capable. It's good to hear first hand experiences about certain makes and models of panel. As I don't have the AFT roof I think these fle...

Re: Black and Green Bongo

Hi redrocket,

That panel looks great, good choice to go with the black. Are you finding the 80w panel enough even with your fridge running full time?

I'm looking at doing this at some point.

Re: Pop top roof for a tin top

Hi there, The new roof we're being supplied with doesn't have mesh vents or a window or any other means of ventilation. They've said that's because they rip easily but I don't know if it's just because they're cheaper to source... Any views on this? Thanks!! Really! I don't think there are many wit...

Re: Rear vs side conversion -storage space?

Looks like a good solution! thanks for posting a pic :) I need to go back to the drawing board and start again. A friend of mine who had a VWT4 said there was a bench seat where you just moved the back so you kind of slid the whole back of the chair to the front so you could sit either side, anyone ...

Re: Rear vs side conversion -storage space?

Yours sounds like a nice idea! Would be interesting to see the result. My centre seat has a swivel mechanism, but unfortunately to rotate the seat I have to take out everything from the floor area, including two side box seats and everything what is in them, which is extremely time-consuming and an...

Re: Which one would you choose?

I had the exact same dilemma when choosing my bongo. I opted for the 2Ltr in the end as it was LPG converted (and the van was very tidy and had a conversion in it already). It's not the most powerful beast, but it has gone up steep hills way better than I ever expected. I never had a chance to drive...

Re: Pop top roof for a tin top

It would be a case of buying some of the plastic used for rear windows in soft top cars and sewing it in place, then cutting out the material. Could be done but I wouldn't think its easy. :? That's the kind of thing I was thinking...I can imagine a lot could go wrong very quickly and I'd wreck a pe...

Re: Pop top roof for a tin top

The roof came with a mushroom vent on the top of the roof, but at the back (lowest end when raised). I added two more mushroom vents at the highest point of the roof. They are not in the canvas. They are standard mushroom vents found online. Ahh I see. Thanks! If anyone knows if you can add a windo...

Re: Pop top roof for a tin top

I have a JAL skylift manual roof (looks like an auto freetop). However, the locking pins are on top of the roof (awkward for a short a**e like me), and unless you specifically ask for it (and pay extra), you won't get a canvas that can be unzipped for fresh air. I had extra vents put in the roof be...

Re: Pop top roof for a tin top

Hi there, It's good to see positive chat about the pop-up roof. We're about to have our tin top converted and were getting a bit worried about it. Is there any more advice out there about whether to go for this? Our bongo is going to be landing in the UK next week so we haven't even seen it yet! Yi...

Re: Rear vs side conversion -storage space?

Another point that should be considered with a side conversion is access to the engine. On mine the drivers seat has to be removed to raise the cover. When I said Brian's choice was well thought out... it seems that they addressed this problem also. I'm pleased you've mentioned this as it's somethi...
