Re: CAM BELT FAILURE! V6

Hi, sorry, meant to reply earlier. I had the cam belt changed and everything went fine and the Bongo is now up and running, no problems. Thanks for everybody's help.

Right, well I’ll go for the cam belt change. Thanks for the input and I’ll update everyone with the results.

Re: CAM BELT FAILURE! V6

Hi there, the cam belt snapped on my V6 2001 Bongo while I was driving at about 30 miles an hour. I'm trying to work out if it's likely to have sustained any engine damage or not so I can decide if it's worth getting the garage to bother trying to fit a new cam belt or whether I should be looking at...

Re: Bongo friendly garages in Yorkshire and the North East

Thanks Stu, I'll try those. For everyone's information, I tried Bridge Garage in Cramlington and they don't do Bongo roofs. He said they used to but they stopped because they were too fiddly and not worth their while.

Re: Bongo friendly garages in Yorkshire and the North East

Does anyone know a good garage in the north east of England for sorting out my Bongo's AFT roof which is jammed shut. I'm in the Alnwick area but could travel a reasonable way for someone good (Northumberland Scottish Borders, Tyne and Wear, Co Durham). I've heard about the garage in Cramlington fro...

Re: Leisure battery draining

I left this problem unsolved for a while but have come back to it now. I think the split charge relay had been warm in my original test because I had just previously been charging from the mains hook up. I haven't been able to recreate the warm SCR when I haven't been hooked up so I think that was a...

Re: newbie Bongo owner with ticking noise question...

Hi there, I'm pretty sure from the description that I have the same problem with my V6. So my question is, how much is a charcoal canister solenoid and also, if I just ignore this ticking noise is it going to cause me problems down the line?

Re: V6 LPG chugging / clonking / low power

Ok, there have been some developments and it looks like it is an ignition problem (kudos to Haydn). I asked a friend who's a bike mechanic and it turned out he used to be a car mechanic (dark horse). He came round and in 5 minutes worked out that the off side middle spark plug lead wasn't firing, it...

Re: V6 LPG chugging / clonking / low power

I'm going to take it in to my mechanic for it's service and mention some of the issues people have raised here and see if he comes up with anything regarding the cold start power loss problems. Regarding the idling problems I think I will fit a scavenger fan over ride switch. It seems easy enough to...

Re: V6 LPG chugging / clonking / low power

It sounds like my Bongo might have the same problem as yours windywatson. Mine too only normally exhibits the idle problem after a longish journey. I'm coming to the conclusion that this isn't related to the chugging / clonking when cold problem. I think my mechanic thought a new air flow meter woul...

Re: V6 LPG chugging / clonking / low power

Great, thanks everyone, I read the post about the Bongo that needed new tappets / HLAs, interesting but I hope mine doesn't too! I've got a few things to talk to my mechanic about anyway. I don't think I'll be buying an air flow meter just yet. One thing my mechanic complains about a lot is that he ...

Sorry, should have said. Switching to petrol doesn't help any of the above complaints.

V6 LPG chugging / clonking / low power

Hello knowledgeable Bongo people. I started my LPG converted V6 about a month ago and it made a chugging noise. It was also intermitantly very low on power and would chug along slowly and then accelerate away then chug, etc until the engine was up to temperature and then it was fine. One time it was...

Re: Leisure battery draining

Right, thanks for that windywatson. I think I need to do some thorough investigations and contact the installer (Celtic Motor Homes). I also should have searched the forum and fact sheets before I posted. I think I've got enough info to keep me going trying to find the problem now. Thanks all.

Re: Leisure battery draining

mikeonb4c, I haven't bought the isolator terminal yet. I do like the fact that it looks a bit like a plumbing valve but I've just been keeping my bongo hooked up whenever it's on the driveway to keep the LB charged up nicely. Which in point of fact is I think why the voltage sense relay was warm tha...
