Just thought I'd update, as you guys have been so kind with your time.
So, off the jacks today, and a test spin confirmed no nasty knocks and bumps, hooray. :)
I followed, again, indispensible advice gleaned from the forum, when tightening up the ARB brackets - that is, dropping the vehicle and ...

Thanks Mike, noted.mikeonb4c wrote:Don't recall ever torquing mine - just did them up tight. And are they nylocks? If so that would imply an acknowledgement that accurate torquing may not be accurate. No doubt techies on here will correct/confirm.

Front Droplinks - Backnuts?
Hello Bongoliers
I'm having to replace front ARb, bushes n brackets, and droplinks on a 1996 2.5 TDI. I ordered replacement droplinks from Ava, and they duly arrived.
I have one question though, the links I removed actually utilised three nuts, not two, in that there was also a backnut on the ...

I know its a very late reply, but I just wanted to thank you, especially Titan, for your much needed advice and encouragement
In the end it was straightforward enough. Both CV's done, both Wishbones done, track rod ends, new discs and pads, everything thoroughly de-rusted and cleaned ...

Glad that all went well for you, luckily for me, steering rack is holding in there pretty well, although I'm sure that job is in the pipeline. Hub bearings seem good too. I'll probably put new seals on the ...

guidance on front outer CV joints replacement
Hi fellow bongonauts
I'm working on a 1996 4WD AFT 2.5TD, which needs a fair few jobs done.
So far, I've fitted out a conversion in it, replaced rear pads, shoes and drums, rear droplinks, refitted exhaust manifold, and started dealing with rust (heaviest on transmission/suspension components, but ...
