Thanks Bongolia

Working with a mechanic took out the water pump we both thought the pump looked good. Put the new one in then everything started to work correctly. Had bleeder to funnel for a very short time had bubbles come up in water tank not in funnel.
Thought had head problems.
Took for long ...

We had the bleeder hose connected to funnel as if in bleeding and the water was hot.

Will do test again when running correctly. :D

Checked the belts all seemed to be okay.

While holding top hose to radiator wife started bongo put peddle to the metal while I pulled off the top hose ............... wait for it ........................
I am dry as a bone didn't get wet just a trickle.
That would explain a lot.
While I was at it ...

No pump change.

Do this cold with stat out. Refill it, loosen top hose at rad, get someone to hold it at fast idle and pull off the top hose water should come out like a fire hose.

If no, then change pump if yes, place clothing in tumble dryer.

Yes

rear T piece under the drivers door B post or the pipe that goes from there towards the front of the van from it
this is the supply to the front heater or a leak in the pipe over the starter motor ...

What made you think the old radiator was causing the overheating?

I had the system pressure tested due to a leak. They replaced the radiator had one of those machines that sucked the air out of the system and told me the water may drop a bit which it did however no ...

Radiator overheating.

Bongo 2.5 diesel 31-7-1996.

Radiator overheating.
New Radiator and thermostat.
Replaced engine fan heat sensor as fan would come on early before thermostat opened.
Overheating.
Did system bleed according to Youtube; bottom hose warm and heater working van running good.
Next day checked water level ...

Followed instructions from "Northern Bongolow" topped it up to correct level and "g8dhe" took off air scoop off and left it off to test.

Started van no white smoke. Took van for run 5 miles approx 15 mins stopped at vets checked bottom hose still cold no leak water at correct level. 15 mins ...

Radiator water loss scavenger fan not working

After replacing water hose I noticed that in traffic jams I can see steam come up from the bonnet. I look at the water temperature gage and it is still on cool I look at the temperature for the engine at that is at normal running temperature also the scavenger fan did not turn on. It was a hose that blew had a hole under pressure directing water to back of van. The only water that could be seen was in the middle of the van not in the front.
Can't thank you enough for your help.
Ian spent some time and found the correct part.
All set to install put in the antifreeze and bleed ...

Thank you so much for the wonderful advice. The van is a 96. Put water into the radiator the water poured out the middle of the van. I will check it out tomorrow or see how much it costs to get it towed to local van fixer.

30 minutes ago just outside my place I smell antifreeze see steam coming from the rear of my Diesel Bongo.
