Re: Blanking rear heater hoses- definitive guide?

That T piece is a common fault
Most only blank of the rear heater if it's the heater it self leaking

I repaired my t with 15mm copper plumbing fittings and jubilee clips
Get a 15mm tee
Solder in 3 bits of copper pipe to the tee
Cut the rusty tee out with a hack saw
Push the copper pipe into the ...

Re: Rear heater box leaking.

It seems the T- Junction is also in need of a bit of TLC, it’s slightly damp. Anyone got a guide to bypass this without the need to replace the whole pipe?

Many thanks

Re: Rear heater box leaking.

I’m guessing the kit for a series 1 & 2 is fine, Geoff? Mines a 94. How far up the system do these install? Is there a guide or any pics online?

Many thanks

Rear heater box leaking.

Hi guys, just noticed a small patch of coolant on the road side, under the rear heater control box. Looks likely that the metal pipe that feeds into the unit is corroded.
I’ve heard of methods to blank the rear system, I’ve never used the heater in the rear anyway. Can anyone point us in the right ...

Re: Rear fan blower..

Finally I have a working rear motor thanks to the lovely guys at Bongo Spares! Fitted the new unit, flushed and replaced the coolant contents and everything is dandy. Cheers for the help guys. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with this thing...

Re: Rear fan blower..

Hopefully the new one will arrive tomorrow. I'm still bewildered why the plug that powers the switch isn't showing a live. Anyone any ideas? The damage is too far down to affect the wiring. And the resistor on the unit looks fine.

Re: Rear fan blower..

The motor actually works, I hook it up to a supply. It clatters around in the molten surround though! The rest of the unit will have to stay in though. I need to use the vehicle till the new part arrives. How much coolant does a bongo system take? 50/50 mix ok?

Re: Rear fan blower..

Just ordered a complete unit from the Bongo spares place in Halifax. £60 quid, not bad. Perfect opportunity to change the coolant and get in the nooks and crannies with the waxoyl anyway. The fittings shouldn't be a problem. Mine is the early version with cables. Really appreciate the help guys.

Re: Rear fan blower..

Found the problem. The fan and everything else down there is melted. Obviously from some botched welding job on the sill. Gutted.

Re: Rear fan blower..

I assume you're talking about the 1/4 trim behind the drivers seat? So I can access the motor, wiring from there? There is power from the front rear fan switch, nothing at the switch in the back end trim though

Re: Rear fan blower..

According to the link the fuse for the rear is under the bonnet. That seems fine. Is it a massive job to get the unit out? Basically there is power at the front and nothing at the switch.

Re: Rear fan blower..

I've check the resistors, they look ok. One or two of them are showing a bit of corrosion but I'm still drawing a live from them. Any other ideas? Does the wiring run through the inner side panel (next to the drivers door)? It's had a bit of welding and I'm hoping the wires haven't been torched ...
