Re: Ferry to France with dogs

I guess it will depend on your dogs. With our dog, we've done several times Hull-Zeebrugge, once Newcastle-Amsterdam, and in the past Rosyth-Zeebrugge, all of these are overnight ferries. We walk the dog for a good bit before we go to the ferry terminal (we now have a glace in Hull to do this). Boar...

Re: Ferry to France with dogs

Several times, it's never been a problem except first time when we did not understand we needed a visit to the vet just before driving back. What do you want to know? Does your dog have a pet passport?

Re: Aircon leak - is it bad?

Thanks, coolant is definitely ok, no drop. I left a container beneath the van last night, this morning there was only a very small amount of very clear liquid (water), 5-10mL or so. All seems well today, drove another 200 km or so, aircon still working ok. Will look at cooling matrix when I'm back h...

Re: Aircon leak - is it bad?

Thanks, for the reassurance Geoff, music to my ears :-)

How long can it drop after the vehicle/aircon is switched off? I was surprised as I only noticed the drip in the early evening.

Aircon leak - is it bad?

It's hot in France right now and I've had to use the aircon the past two days, I drove about 100km over 2 days. This evening there is an obvious drip of water (does not look like coolant) under the front of the van. I traced the drip to where the two vertical pipes connect to what I think is the &qu...

Gaiters/ dust covers on new front shocks

I have just had the two front shocks replaced (one was leaking and it was an MOT fail). I had a quick look under the wheel arches and it looks like the gaiters/dust covers were not replaced, as they look old and split, see the photos below. Is that a problem? I would have thought that it would lower...

Re: Temperature sender replacement

The gauge sensor ONLY affects the display, there is another sensor that feeds the ECU for control purposes, so no worry there. Thanks, it's reassuring that it's not impacting anything but the display. Hi you don't need to remove the "top cover" simply lift the drivers seat and use a suita...

Temperature sender replacement

Dear All, The engine temperature gauge stopped moving about 10 days ago on my 2.5TB. I have not lost any coolant. The rest of the van seems to be working completely as usual although I've had some heating issues but it's been quite warm recently and I don't run the van much. I planned to replace the...

Re: Daft exhaust question

As an update to my original post, Dingwall Tyres ( http://www.dingwalltyrescentre.co.uk/ ) managed to source the flexi part of the exhaust overnight and fit for a very reasonable cost. So I just went along with them in the end. I will still attempt to remove the winter pack valve as a DYI job later ...

Re: Daft exhaust question

Thanks for the help so far. Below is a (fairly scary) photo of the connections around the exhaust valve of the winter pack... My immediate problem is not here but at the flexi pipe. Nonetheless I wonder whether to replace everything anyway given the amount of corrosion. I'm also worried of future is...

Re: Daft exhaust question

The slightly unusual bit will be if the dodgy joint affects the section with the cold weather kit. Rather than bother you with the options unnecessarily, let us know if this is relevant to you i.e. do you have a cold weather kit and are its flanges blowing? Yes, it's a cold weather Bongo with the w...

Daft exhaust question

A bit of a newbie (and probably daft) question regarding exhausts (1999 2.5L TD). Can the exhaust replacement parts be supplied by the standard exhaust replacement/fitting places or is it a matter of buying bits myself from the shop and providing that to them? Or is it really a job for a more specia...

I have done it on mine, about 6 weeks ago. I'm based near Inverness if you want to have a look. Any use?
