Re: My 4x4 Auto Gearbox failed recently on my 2.5 Diesel Bon
Good reply, thanks. The solenoid pack status remains a mystery however, I need it to be working again so I'm forking out for the gearbox to be replaced even though it seems to be a Mazda manufacturing error still unforgivable with the passage of time..!

Re: My 4x4 Auto Gearbox failed recently on my 2.5 Diesel Bon
If the white mark means it has been recalled and fixed, I wonder why my gearbox failed with the exact symptoms of the fault described in the recall. Also my gearbox is over sprayed with black Waxoil and the usual under body grime but the white paint looks bright and recently applied.

Re: My 4x4 Auto Gearbox failed recently on my 2.5 Diesel Bon
No rattle noises at all, the gearbox was super smooth in summer and winter with no delays in shifting at all. I was completely amazed at its sudden demise. I had towed the caravan many times but on the recent trip to Hereford from Blackpool the gearbox became very hot and smelled of burning clutch ...

Re: Auto Gearbox Identification
Thanks for the info but it's the 4WD version on my Bongo. Found it thanks to a photo provided by George at Bongospares. It's an aluminium tag on the drivers side towards the rear of the gearbox visible from the void between the fuel tank and gearbox attached to the gearbox by a 10mm bolt at one end ...

Re: My 4x4 Auto Gearbox failed recently on my 2.5 Diesel Bon
Yes, He has one for £350 which I may order and put it in the boot. Until I find someone willing to fit it for a reasonable fee. Just need to check that its not also one affected by the recall notice. They have a white paint mark on the left hand side of the oil pan when viewed from under the ...

I could buy a used Mazda MX5 for that, and disappear into the Sunset.

Re: My 4x4 Auto Gearbox failed recently on my 2.5 Diesel Bon
Apparently to strip out the auto box and rebuild it then re-fit will cost £2300 plus a specialist recovery vehicle to transport it there because it will not move in either direction so needs to be put on skates £300.

Re: Aircon...
When I bought my Bongo I forgot to check the air conditioning until the hot weather came along. My Bongo has the dual climate option so I set it to 18 and pressed auto, disappointingly only warm air came out of the vents same for the rear system. I did some research to find out how re-gassing is ...

Re: Bongo compact florescent tube
There is also a problem with the light fitting developing cracks in the solder. Think it applies to the U-Shaped ones as well as the straight ones. Costs nothing to take a look and, if you have a soldering iron, nothing to fix. Saved me replacing a tube unnecessarily.

Re: Bongo compact florescent tube
That is the conventional strip light style tube which will not fit the later U-shape fitting.
