Thanks for the comments so far. Just to clarify the first time the head was skimmed (before I bought it) it looks like it was a fairly bad job. The company that skimmed it this time round say it wasn't level. Could a badly repaired head lead to a more serious problem such as a crack in the engine bl...

I know the Blythe Hill tavern, great Guinness ! I've taken the Bongo to DRA Services in South Croydon (with a little help of a flatbed truck after overheating again...). Thanks for all your suggestions I'll report back.

Thanks, yes I also saw the one in South Croydon, DRA services ? I'm going to give them a shout, given that fact my bongo is more or less off the road, I'm trying to find one as close as possible to avoid high recovery costs.
