Re: Bongos in Denmark?

Well, well, well, import to Denmark complete!! (as you may have seen on Friend-face) Possibly the first Bongo in DK. a bit chuffed that I (mostly) conquered the import system. So, the trick is of course to find an MOT technician who gives a s**t. Piqued their interest, and praised beer. After puttin...

Re: Engine block heater

Denmark calling! I think I really need one of these now! It took me 5 tries to start the Bongo this morning. (I ran the glow plugs a couple of times). We'd used it on Sunday for a good run it's only sat for a day and a bit. it's not that cold really (-3degC) , but the windchill makes it -10 (!). The...

Re: Bongos in Denmark?

Day 2, another technical inspection site with a danish friend.......progress and no progress. towbar and vehicle weight not an issue, as can classify towbar as a storage rack or similar i.e. not for towing, and can weigh car on weighbridge. Now I need an EU COC (certificate of conformity) , which I'...

Re: Bongos in Denmark?

Hi all, Well, I'm here in Roskilde in Denmark! Driving is OK 'on the wrong side', just like France, except drivers are VERY polite. Lots of cyclists, but mostly they have their own lanes to travel on, you just have to watch out turning at junctions.....Why couldn't the UK do that?? Anyway, tried to ...

Re: Bongos in Denmark?

Right, looks like it's worth importing the Bongo ('only' £1000 to import), and given the high cost of vehicles in DK. I need to find out more details of the technical inspection etc.......

Thanks for your advice

Re: Bongos in Denmark?

From what little I’ve read, the police are hot on that. You only get 30days to register the vehicle once you’re resident. Not sure if my sister (for example) was the legal owner and I’m on her insurance which allowed more than the standard ~1 month a year outside the UK. How that will change with Br...

Bongos in Denmark?

Hi All, I've been offered a job in Denmark. Given the years of fun we've had with Bertie Bongo, it'd be a wrench to leave him behind. Has anybody else imported a Bongo into Denmark? it looks like you have to pay circa 80% of the value of the vehicle to get Danish plates (!). This might be do-able if...

Re: sliding door wont open

Hi, I had this problem too after the battery went flat. I tried hitting the door on the inside as per various threads but this didn’t work. My solution was to remove the door handle (remove circlip first) and then the window trim and inside door fascia. In the centre of the door is the soft close me...

Re: Interior light led swap

hi all, I tried replacing the fluoro tube in the interior light with a straight swap for a T5 224mm LED tube that i bought on Amazon. This didn't work. The very nice man (Nick) at LED-zip.co.uk in Bournemouth was able to suss out the wiring of the PCB in the interior light fitting (which corresponds...

Re: Fridge

Hi, I have a Vitrifrigo C42L 2-way (12/240v) fridge mounted in a removable wooden cabinet in the back of the Bongo, and the controller automatically switches to the 240v supply if present. I have a leisure battery in the vehicle, and had an auto electrician wire up the accessory sockets, and radio t...

Re: Seeking advice on upgrading Outwell awning to Airbeam?

I've just bought an Outdoor Revolution Oxygen Movelite 3 awning. It's pretty good. It replaced a Khyam Motordome Classic, which is pretty hard to beat in terms of speed of erection (ahem). The new awning is bigger, for those wet days, and has a sewn in groundsheet. The tunnel to the van is shorter, ...

Re: Trip of my Life - Driving Round the South Island

(Sigh), wish I was back in NZ again. I lived there for 4 years in the North Island back in the 1990's in the Waikato, and it was the best time of my life, excepting of course when i met my lovely wife in Belgium after that ;o) Coming from Suffolk, and not having traveled much in Europe, i had never ...

Outdoor Revolution Oxygen 3 movelite awning

hi all, does anybody have one of these awnings? I'm thinking of buying one or a newer model of the Khyam Motordome classic awning that we already have. The Khyam is excellent apart from water leaking under the edges as there is no built-in or bath-tub groundsheet (it rained ALOT at the Battle of Has...

Re: Body shop in Bournemouth area

hi Simon and BnB, thanks for the tip! have been in contact with Alex (at Al's autos). apparently his missus has a Bongo, and he has a few customers so he knows Bongo a bit. He's given me a quote to give to the insurance company for assessment (or rather their vehicle rental company CCL in Ringwood)....
