Re: Brake warning light on dashboard.
Thanks Ian, that sounds like a plan. Nothing is ever straight forward with a Bongo is it? I have a basic diagnostic tool and this afternoon I decided to give it a go. No, it’s a completely different fitting isn’t it? Do garages have a variety if fittings for different vehicles? I thought they were a...

Re: Brake warning light on dashboard.
Thanks for the reply. 2 further questions:
1/ The ABS light is permanently on. Should this be the case if what you say is correct?
2/ How do I diagnose the problem?
The brakes do feel a bit spongy, this is what made me think it might be the brake pads wearing down.

Brake warning light on dashboard.
I had the ABS warning light come on on the dashboard just before Christmas. Does this light come on when the brake pads are low as a warning to change them or is this likely to be something more sinister? I’ve never had this before so a little bit concerned. I can cope with changing the brake pads. ...

Re: Checking transmission levels.
Having read the link I agree that little or no thought had gone into how these pipes would be replaced. They seem to be the first thing Mazda installed and then put everything else over the top. The problem I have is that I’m not confident to remove the heater coolant pipe and then bleed it. It’s th...

Re: Checking transmission levels.
Imagine the scene, Christmas Day and you pull a cracker. Out pops a metal puzzle where you have to use your brain to try and twist and turn the pieces in the hope that you can beat the puzzle by undoing the pieces. Today isn’t Christmas Day and I haven’t pulled any crackers, but I have spent the day...

Re: Checking transmission levels.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Judging by that information it should be ok to use the Dexron 11.
Thanks again.

Re: Checking transmission levels.
My new atf pipes have arrived and I plan to fit them today.
One thing I forgot to ask was can I use ANY auto transmission fluid or is there a specific grade I have to use.
My father in law has some Shell Dexron 11 fluid. Is that going to be ok to use?

Re: Checking transmission levels.
Thanks for that, it’s one less thing to worry about. I was hoping it would be straight forward. You’re right about the rear heater pipes they are showing signs of corrosion but hopefully not yet bad enough to replace. I know that will need bleeding, not a job for me I’m afraid, I know my limits! [-X...

Re: Checking transmission levels.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I only noticed yesterday where the fluid was coming from. I initially thought it was from the rocker gasket as I’ve seen fluid on the ground and I know that needs doing as well. I got my van over a pit to remove the prop shaft and that’s when I saw where it was com...

Checking transmission levels.
Whilst repairing/replacing the prop shaft on my van, I noticed a pipe that comes out of the gearbox was leaking fluid. This only leaks when the engine is running. I don’t know how long this has been going on for so I’m a bit worried about the transmission fluid level in the gearbox. Three questions:...

Re: Prop shaft bearing
Indeed Bob, sounds like a plan. Ideally I want a NEW universal joint to be on the safe side. I intend to replace the ones on both end of the prop shaft. There are plenty about on Ebay and elsewhere but I want to make sure I get the right one. I did look on the Bongo shop but it doesn't look like tha...

Prop shaft bearing
Hi, I need to replace the universal joint/bearing on the front prop shaft of my van. Can anyone let me know what the part number is for this item please.( the part that looks like a cross!!). I have contacted my local motor factors today to enquire about this. They went away and spoke to a company w...

Re: Best advice required.
Thanks Bob and Ian, you answered my questions as I expected. The only part that scares me is the bleeding of the system.
I feel quite confident that I can do the rest. I’ll be placing an order soon with the club shop and hopefully get these things done.
Thanks again for your help!
