Re: Trouble in Bongo Heaven...

Sorry guys busy times. I appreciate the replies.

If you decide to fix this on the road make sure you have plenty of tax and MOT. The latter is difficult to get if the job drags on.

Thanks for that Bob seems like pretty sound advice.

In my experiance I have found if you can establish the ...

Re: 18" RX8 wheel's too big or ok?

Thanks for the info guys. Bit of an overheating issue going on so the wheels are just gonna have to wait until I've figured out what to do about that. Cheers.

Re: Wheels

Thanks for all the comments guys. Simon it wasn't a typo but I didn't go for them in the end cos an old overheating issue raised its ugly head so I'm focussing on finding the best solution to that at the moment. Gives me a bit of breathing space to look around for some half decent 17"ers, maybe. But ...

Re: Trouble in Bongo Heaven...

@ briwy. Well it hasn't needed bled since we had the work done ages ago, cos the coolants never dropped below the line, also, because the garage in their infinite wisdom didn't fit a bleed pipe we still can't bleed it, but they assure me that it's now apparently self bleeding. (I remain fairly ...

Re: Trouble in Bongo Heaven...

@ Teenmal. Well it's only worth sub £1000.00 cos it's not running properly. The £500 is a trade-in guesstimate, and a loose one at that (ie I made it up). But yeah, if I do it I'll be doing it myself. I'm not paying for someone to take it apart and put it together again again. Everything I've read ...

Re: Trouble in Bongo Heaven...

That's interesting Northern Bongolow. We discovered when we had the original problem that we didn't have the proper bleed hose (actually no hose and nothing to attach it too) which was a little worrying. To get it to the garage I bodged a bleed hose extension and we bled the system as per the you ...

Re: Trouble in Bongo Heaven...

@ Winchman. Yeah that's my gut feeling too. And anyway, at least when I'd finished I'd know a lot more about cars than when I started. But I reckon it'll be more than that unless I do it myself. It was that much 2yrs ago without a new head. One of the concerns is that I'm not sure the van itself is ...

Trouble in Bongo Heaven...

Big Problems...

Right so an old problem seems to have resurfaced on our lovely bongo. I'll try and be concise.

A couple of years back we drove off without noticing a radiator leak. This led to a boiling header tank. We opted to have work done. I believe we had a new head gasket and had the ...

Re: Wheels

Yeah I'm mainly just after a cheap quick fix cos the chrome coated ones that came with the vehicle are in a right state. The Rx8 option isn't looking great because all the wheels I find have tyres with a weight rating of just 91. I understand 96 is what I need for the bongo, and the Rx8's don't look ...

18" RX8 wheel's too big or ok?

Can anyone comment on fitting wheels from an RX8 on to a Bongo? I read around a bit and it seems like they do fit. Most of the ones I'm seeing around are 18" though which is maybe a bit large, thoughts?

Has anyone else done it? How did you get on?

Re: Wheels

That's good to hear Helen thanks.

Cheers Tony I'll give them a call.

Cagey and green bongo. Certainly worth looking at if I get hold of some cheapish alloys. Thanks.

Wheels

Hi. I realise wheels have been discussed elsewhere on the internet, but I'm trying to piece all the info I have together. So any help would be very appreciated. Sorry for the essay...

I have an automatic 2.5 ltr Bongo, 1996 I think. Long story short the wheels are knackered. They're chrome coated ...
