Health Check

AVA Leisure in Surrey do a Bongo Health Check for £58.50. As someone who doesn't really know about mechanics and even less about ageing vehicles like Bongos. Do people generally think this sort of thing is worthwhile? Will it give me an idea about throwing good money after bad or if it's worth upgra...

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Just as I think I'm decided, along comes another viewpoint that peaks my interest :?

Now I'm all a quandary again.

Thanks for the info though. More info is always good I find.

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Dave,

It looks like I'll go down this route. They seem to know what they are doing and the blanking off of the winter pack valve I'm sure is within their capabilities. It's about £100 more than going the eBay route (full 4 part system) and getting that fitted by my local garage.

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Yeah. I've spoken to them this morning £249 for two part and £349 for 3 part. I think my down pipe is ok, but he wasn't too sure what I meant when I mentioned the winter pack. I'm sure they can blank this off if they fit a two part. Others seem to think this is worthwhile.

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

I'll probably keep the winter system in. As far as I'm aware it works, so will just leave it in, unless this exhaust place in Walsall can blank it.

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Thanks NB. I'll check them out. I know I've got a four section, so I hope they can do these.

So many differing opinions on exhausts and what way to go. But that place looks good, so I'll probably go with them.

Thanks again.

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Thanks again Gasy

As it's currently with a non bongo garage. I may get the exhaust and take it to a bongo friendly garage in Birmingham (if there is one) and see if they can do that at the same time.

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Thanks Gasy.

Is there some advantage to ditching the winter pack?

I've already ditched the second battery for a leisure one.

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Gasy, that's a good point. I've no idea. Mine has a winter pack though.

Perhaps that's what the box is that appears to be linked to the exhaust that the garage had no idea what it was.

Anybody know?

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Thanks dude,

I'll chance the spacers (order some 5mm ones) to get it through the MOT and see what the result is.

Just got to get some info on the exhaust now then (",)

Re: MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Oh, that's a shame, I was hoping that spacers would be the answer. The rubbing is so light on the anti roll bar and only on one side. The wheels are 17" mazda wheels with 225 50Zr 17 (98 XL) tyres.

Also, can anybody recommend a place to buy a new complete 4 part exhaust from?

MOT Failure :-( - Exhaust / Wheel Spacer Question

Re: Electrical Add Ons - What Order?

Thanks Nath. Another view point to consider. It seems both ways seem viable. Just me thinking it'd be a big issue when I guess it's not.

Re: Electrical Add Ons - What Order?

Oh my good god! I don't mind attempting and learning little jobs. This is something I'll leave to a specialist!!

I'm sure I could get a vehicle into that state, but not so confident returning it to its original configuration!
