A quick update.
The water temperature sensor has been replaced, and still 'Beety' goes into limp mode.
I've tried moving the turbo actuator with a pair of pliers and found I can do so when cold, but not when the engine is hot.
Does this require a new actuator, or can it be lubricated in any way ...

Re: Wastegate Actuator Stuck Open
Hi Barbara and Jonathan,
Mine has been like it for over a year now - and I've had a lot of very expensive work done on it so far to try and cure the problem.
It's now back in the garage with the Wastegate Actuator factsheet, and hopefully that will help my mechanic find the problem.

Re: Remote central Locking.
The kit has a red wire to constant 12V - and also a white to the ignition output.
I've just realised that the constant 12V requires a minimum of 15 amp - and I'm connecting it to the central locking which is blowing fuse 1 (10 amp).
I'll need to find a different constant live.

Re: Swivelling Bench Seat from Northstar Conversions
I've been looking at the swivel seat for a while.
My Bongo has an Outback conversion which I love - but had a couple of questions regarding the swivel base:
Does the side door need to be open for it to swing round?
Is it possible for the seat to be stopped or locked in any position? (I'm thinking ...

Re: Remote central Locking.
I've bought the same Hawk kit for my 2000 Bongo.
The central locking works currently by using the key in the drivers door - which in turn locks/unlocks all the other doors except for the passenger one (which is another project, at another time!).
I've tried twice now to fit the kit - and every ...

Re: Wastegate Actuator Stuck Open
I don't know for certain, but this sounds very much like my garage in Essex, who have been trying to sort out the various issues on my Bongo since December.
The garage is LA Cars in Braintree - and I can't fault Lac (the owner) for all the hard work, and trouble he's gone to try and fix the thing ...

Re: Getting to the end of my tether with it!
Many thanks for all your advice.
I have replaced the EGR solenoids now - and checked the valves were operating and not too dirty (the valves I bought as a replacement were in a much worse condition than mine, so didn't swap them).

Thanks Dave.
I'll get in touch with the local Bongo specialist - and let him take a look at the solenoids and hoses.

Re: Getting to the end of my tether with it!
The van has just come back from a Bongo specialist!
There are no knocks that would suggest a CV problem. It's losing revs, and in particular in reverse gear.

Many thanks for your help and the suggestions.
My Bongo is the drive by wire sort.
I'll check the glow plugs tomorrow.
The idle revs sit around 800-900 rpm, but I'll check the cold start tomorrow too.
There's no fuel leak.

Re: Getting to the end of my tether with it!
I have changed the fuel filter.
The steering wheel shudders when pulling away with the wheels turned (such as pulling out at T junctions). I wondered if that was a result of wrong size wheels - but since they're all the same, perhaps that isn't the issue.

Getting to the end of my tether with it!
Hi all.
The ongoing saga of my poorly Bristol Bongo is still ongoing! I have today removed the EGR pipe and the two valves and inspected/cleaned them. The valves were nice and clean anyway, and moved freely inside.
The issues with the poor starting, limp mode, no response to the throttle (but free ...

Re: Locating a Particulate Filter
Thanks teenmal.
I'm still struggling to see it.
I assume it's not showing in the 3 photos I posted?
If I'm viewing the diagram correctly it should be on the right (dashboard end) of the EGR pipe...
All that appears to be connected to is the metal elbow to the inlet pipe.
Should I then be looking ...
