If you have a towbar you could fit a chain round that. Pretty certain it would be very difficult to lower the mechanism from below due to the position of the socket that the winding bar normally locates to. What is the state of the mechanism? Is it still attached via 4 bolts, has the wire been cut ...

Spare wheel mechanism

Hi all
I have just discovered that my spare wheel has GONE. Not sure if the cable has been cut or snapped, but I need a new mechanism. Is it just the four bolts to undo for a straight swap or more to it? ( Brand new tyre too) :cry:

Sods law...reserved a set of these yesterday received e-mail back to confirm, went to pick them up this morning and they ain't got none left. Hi guys, I've got a slight whistling noise but only when building up speed, can rev up in neutral and drive at a constant speed and its fine. No 8 stud on the manifold was broken so thought it could be that, replaced all the studs and the gasket and I still have the whistle. Could anyone advise wher...

Hi Helen,
we would still be interested in this, maybe go in convoy as was suggested before. The VW lot do the Balljoint Run 3000 each year, 3000 miles round Europe in two weeks different routes each trip (video's on youtube). Be great to get a crowd together for this trip.
