Re: Daniel William: Legit buyer or scammer?

Someone tried to scam us too when selling our Bongo. They said they'd pay by PayPal and pay the PayPal fees. On googling their name it turns out they send you a fake PayPal receipt and then presumably collect the van having paid nothing. Their email had 'avlon' in it just in case you are subjected t...

Re: Wanted bongo, i want to buy

Sounds like you prefer mx bikes? Maybe your kids will want to follow in your tracks. We've used Bongos for this purpose for years and find we can carry 2 kids bikes plus 5 people reasonably easily. Even now we can still manage a full size adult bike, a big wheel 85 (the largest kids size bike you ca...

Re: Clunk and not starting

I'd replace the starter motor solenoid. There are two types depending on if you have the winter pack or not but both are replaceable. Symptoms of a failed solenoid are a clunk on turning the key but the motor not spinning. You have to remove the starter motor to replace the solenoid (you can just ab...

Re: Electrical question with the speedo

When we removed the convertor chip (which was supposedly one of the better 5 wire versions) the change to how the Bongo drove was dramatic with much better acceleration from low speed. Worth doing for this reason alone although some get along with them fine apparently. A switch like you suggest may ...

Can't help I'm afraid.
For the bolts that hold the seats to the rails (which we do and undo a lot) I'm lucky enough to have been born with a torque wrench in my elbow.

Probably not if the engine was cold

Re: Intermittent o/heating 96’ 2.5 turbo D

One further test would be to test the coolant for exhaust gasses. Not 100% conclusive in that it can show all is OK when it is not but maybe worth a go. Personally I'd put a new thermostat in there just in case a none Mazda one was used and is failing to open. Sorry to say I'm not that optimistic gi...

Re: Intermittent o/heating 96’ 2.5 turbo D

You could try bleeding the cooling system (specialist knowledge needed but not hard) and then have ito pressure tested (most garages can do)

Re: Advice on rear arches

Inspired by Mike we did something similar. It took a while and the arches weren't to bad anyway but now they are covered in thick fibreglass, especially on the inside. My thoughts are that they will now rust away much slower and even if they do to the point they dissappear completely the fibreglass ...

All will change when we get nuclear fusion power stations. Zero waste (well, a bit of helium) and an abundance of what they burn (hydrogen )
Unfortunately, as a planet we spend more on dog grooming than developing it.

Re: Another dash cam

If you're spending a bit more then look for dash cams powered by super capacitors rather than lithium batteries as they reportedly stand up to the heat better.

Re: Mystery bulb identification!

It's worth getting a reasonable LED for those lights. I'd suggest a warm white rather than a very bright one ( which tend to have a cooler light temperature )
