Thanks dior that, didn't get the notifocation to say anyone had replied so apologies for the delay.
The nearest 'converted' one within budget is this one:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156840255920
which seems to be OK according to the MOT info I can get, we'd have change to possibly sort stuff out ...

Re: Bongo and conversion: Will up to 10k get us what we need?
Thanks Bob,
It is meant to replace our second car which does short journeys to work so MPG not really an issue. That's why we've come back to the idea of a Bongo as it fulfilled this before it broke. However, sleeping in it was not paticularly comfortable and now we're older we're getting pickier ...

Bongo and conversion: Will up to 10k get us what we need?
Hi, after our last Bongo got scrapped a few years ago we thought we might not be getting another one! However, as we have a desire to get back into campsites where tents and inflatable beds aren't really cutting it, we've started looking at camper van options.

Re: Is this gearbox noise? Not sure..
Gearbox has gone unfortunately :(
Now that we've purchased a replacement vehicle we're not sure whether it's worth the £400 + VAT replacement 4WD manual gearbox plus the £140 + VAT to fit it to get it working again to sell as a driveable vehicle...or sell it spares or repair.

Re: Is this gearbox noise? Not sure..
Thanks for the replies. Yes, the sound appears to dissapear when I depress the clutch. I'll take it into Allen's as soon as I can but wanted to guage what it might be first...and the cost!!

OK, a week after our Bongo has come back from having a new master cylinder, it sounds like a new problem has emerged! I don't think it is related to master cylinder, as fluid level in master cylinder is ok.

Re: Can't engage gears whilst engine running, manual gearbox
Thanks, brakes are allright, no difference. Lol, my partner doesn't even know what the low fluid light looks like and I wouldn't have noticed
I must be blind as that reservoir didn't look low at the time, it was the first thing I checked as it was the only relevant looking reservoir I could ...

Re: Can't engage gears whilst engine running, manual gearbox
Hi everyone, just a quick update. It was carted away to the Bongo Specialist before I could have a look at it and it turns out the clutch fluid level was a bit low and after topping up and checking there were no apparent leaks it was handed back to us. It's been ok since.

Re: Can't engage gears whilst engine running, manual gearbox
Thanks for the responses.
The pedal felt quite normal, not slack unless it's a subtle difference that I can't notice. Not noticed any slippage either.
Whereabouts is the clutch cylinder? I couldn't see it under the bonnet so I'm guessing it's near where you put the oil in i.e. under the passenger ...

Can't engage gears whilst engine running, manual gearbox
Hi,
This is the second time this has happened to my partner's manual drive bongo. :?
18 months ago my partner broke down in traffic when she suddenly couldn't engage any gears in her manual bongo. It was taken to a Bongo specialist garage and the clutch was deemed to be faulty and replaced ...
