Apart from a cock up on delivery, hats off to George for sending a decent, low milage box. Now the next problem .....went to 'beep' the horn on the way back fro...

Help re oil seal?

Hi all Bit of advice please, as per an earlier thread my gearbox gave up today so ordered a new one from George. The garage fitting the replacement is a solid, reliable one however, I did mention an oil leak from the bottom of the bell housing ( front of, where it meets the engine ) and the mechanic...

Gearbox woes!!!!

Well, finally had to admit defeat and sort our gearbox out! Symptoms ( for those who want to know! ) we're going up the box, 1st 2nd ok then slight slip going into 3rd, then change into 4th. Gradually, over several drives the slip got worse until we were returning this morning from the Forest of Dea...

Re: Visual LCD battery display.

Probably missing something here? Whilst I think this is a great idea and fancy trying it out, doesn't the position mean that its difficult to move the central console when carrying out maintenance, etc? Dave No Dave! The LCD's take very little room, the wiring has two quick release connectors so yo...

Re: Visual LCD battery display.

Very neat. Have been trawling Ebay for one but can't find them. Any chance of a link please? Item ref : 221298249683, cost £2.37 each inc postage from China ( how on earth they make any money is beyond me! ) you can get different colour displays if you use the "find items like this" tab :D

Re: Visual LCD battery display.

Ah, so that's what you wanted that trim panel for ;). Very neat looking job. Darn it ..you got me there Simon! :D Yeah, cut the original hole on the bottom right but when I tried to re-fit it, it was touching the metal plate behind so wouldn't fit flush. Fussy bugger, hence the SOS for a new panel....

Visual LCD battery display.

Just a quick project : Cost less than £3 each from China via eBay ...inc postage! Checked the voltage via a voltmeter and they are accurate. Dremelled the holes to fit, removed the centre console to do this. Wired direct to each battery via a fuse and the double switch down by my left knee. Now we k...

Re: Smoke and low power, especially uphill

My guess would be turbo! Would give lack of power & white smoke. May be lucky and it's just seals ( pretty sure there has been threads on the forum re this ) but this is where I would look ....check all hoses/connections are done up tight before removing etc! Have you checked the oil level / con...

Re: Night heaters

Can I get a night heater for a bongo? Just finished fitting a propex system. Cost £430 from www.vwheretage.co.uk for the complete kit.Runs off the gas bottle supplying the hob, easy to fit if your ok with DIY! Problem I had ( as have many others on here with fully converted bongos ) the hole at the...
