Are there not two different lengths of glow plug available? Maybe yours should be the shorter length and someone has made do with the longer plugs. This could be the cause of pressure release as the plugs are not fully sealing?

Possibly something to do with the lifespan of rubber. If you take a look at a cars non driven wheels (the tyres on these usually last longest) once they get to about 5 years old the tyre sidewalls start to crack. I imagine its similar for a cam belt, if that cam belt has sat on the shelf of a garage...

Had mine done on the 2.5 diesel last week. Belt,spring and tensioner changed, 3 hours labour (I supplied my own parts) £133 including VAT. Saved me rolling around in the rain.

What sort of range should I expect from the 2.5 td? I estimate it will be around 300 miles. The Bongo is not being used as everyday transport but as a camper so will generally be used for longer journeys.
