Thanks for all your help so far.
I have spoken to a couple of dealers who sell bongos and can you believe it all of them are automatic so no good there.
I cant see how the spring can be in the wrong position because of the space in which it sits.
The lush projects dont bring enough ...

This is strange, you say that the spring goes towards the front of the bongo when mine goes towards the back of the bongo ie the driver.
I will have to look at it again.
The spring has the two right angle arms that fit into the nylon bushes also the centre part of the spring ...

This morning I went and checked the movement in the clutch. the lever went in and out with no problems and had loads of pressure also no sticking.
I adjusted the pedal free play and took it for a drive.

I did check the thrust bearing and lever, however I have a niggling thought it could be sticking.
I also pulled the clutch lever by using and long lever whilst it was all together.. There was lots of force and spring back.
To be honest taking the gearbox out on these is easy so it might have to ...

The pivot pin is fine, already checked.
It has both nylon bushes .
It just seems that the spring works okay half way then it forces the pedal down.
The thing is it was all good before every thing was changed out.

Hi Guys
Right just a quick overview of what I have done to my bongo.
Manual gear box taken out due to stiff gears. Clutch was checked and it looked new so I put it all back.
I replaced the master cylinder and and slave cylinder and bled the system, all good there.
